Director - Technology - Data Center Network Infrastructure - Gap Tech - San Francisco


Job description
This is a technical leadership role for focused on Data Center network architecture, engineering, and operations. Lead the infrastructure teams by leveraging the convergence of voice, video, security, data, and storage into one networking infrastructure. Primary responsibilities include developing and championing strategic network architecture. Leading employees, contractors, and third party vendors to ensure adherence with platform standards, ensure hardware and software currency, and governance over all network changes. This role is responsible for developing a network infrastructure roadmap, enterprise network strategy, and network technology adoption plans. Accountabilities for network infrastructure are global Data centers, non-production, and production environments.

Essential Functions:
Developing and enforcing a strategic network infrastructure that:
o Enables the Brands (Gap, Old Navy, BR, Outlet, GID, Athleta, and Piperlime) to explore new technologies while providing a stable and reliable network
o Is scalable to meet application and data road maps
o Secure. Capable of adapting to future privacy and security requirements
o Resilient and easily repaired.
Managing Network performance, reliability and security across all data centers. Accountable for quality of network services delivered by the team.
Ownership of the Network Infrastructure Roadmap: Iterative process that communicates to management the changes to Gap’s network by incorporating future trends, industry best practices, and new technology with the needs of our enterprise data and systems.
Deliver solutions to allow multiple vendors and multiple agent access to specific applications, servers, or systems in a secure manner.
Partner with compute, DB and other peers for network resource optimization, and resolution of production issues, and ongoing maintenance of application and systems.
Reviews and approves network solutions for cross platform projects and initiatives.
Interface with infrastructure delivery partners to delegate prioritization of work across the various owners
Manage a team of senior network engineers, provide direction, support and guidance to the team
Demonstrates advanced understanding of business process implications underlying critical systems and networks
Reviews and approves and builds and adoption play should External Service Providers develop alternative network solutions that is required by the business
Approves all technical network requirements, provides analysis, and technical network specifications for all infrastructure service requests
Provides the requirements and manages Statements of Work for External Service Providers

Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required, masters’ degree preferred
13+ years of progressive experience in architecture, engineering and design capacities
Must have “hands-on” experience in networking, be willing to deep dive into technical details as needed
Certified Cisco Internetwork Expert (CCIE) is highly preferred
Demonstrated expertise in infrastructure competencies relevant to manage the operational adoption and support of new technologies into production
Experience in delivering complex global network systems supporting retail, inventory, financial, HR, payroll, transportation, real estate, and DC management systems
Broad knowledge and high technical expertise across all components of Network Architectures, devices, and protocols.
Candidate will have demonstrated ability to solve complex problems in multi-vendor environment.
Demonstrated relevant experience in building and maintaining enterprise class data centers
