Senior Director - Payroll - Amazon - Seattle
Job description
Amazon seeks a Director Payroll to lead Payroll for Amazon employees in North, Central, and South America. We are looking for a strong, strategic leader with excellent communication skills. The role is a fantastic opportunity for a leader who wants to raise the bar for the payroll team, be at the center of it all, and set the team up for success. Being part of the Global Management Team will provide exposure to all of the international payroll team.
Other areas of responsibility: projects, Six Sigma (Greenbelt and Kaizen), new country implementations, M&A activities, budget and operational expense responsibilities. You will have the opportunity to build the teams and make a difference. This is a high profile area within Amazon and requires a manager with the ability to identify and prioritize business critical risks. You will lead and develop teams, including: hiring, training and employee development; managing group workload and establishing priorities; ensuring existing policies and procedures are followed; managing annual performance targets and operating budget; creating and monitoring appropriate performance metrics.
Additional responsibilities:
Manages the centralized periodic (bi weekly and monthly) payroll preparation/processing for 100,000+ employees across multiple locations in the Americas
Support related tax reporting, benefits-records administration and payroll system maintenance
Manage a team of payroll analysts and payroll vendors
Liaise with key business partners to coordinate/communicate process calendar
Implementing and monitoring internal controls over input and output data of the Payroll systems
Coordinate cash funding process with vendors and Treasury
Implement Greenbelt and Kaizen processes
Implement new systems or incorporate new locations as growth or acquisitions occur
Working with Senior Management partners on special projects as needed
Manage a team to be the best employee to employee customer service, including monitoring performance for key metrics
BA/BS degree
10+ years finance related experience
Proven ability to hire and develop the best employees
Proven ability to deliver results, dive deep, invent and simplify, and insist on the highest standards
CPA or CMA
Private/Public Accounting mix preferred with direct finance experience in a large organization
Strong interpersonal skills, including persuasive written and oral communication skills
Solid organizational and project management skills
Experience running operations with high a volume of transactional inputs and outputs
