Job description
eBay Mobile platform team is looking for a for a high caliber and results-oriented software development director to lead a team of engineers to design, develop, and deploy services and platform products that are used by multiple mobile platforms. A successful candidate will have relevant experience in leading a team to deliver successful software products, strong technical ability, excellent project management, excellent communication skills and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment.
Work closely with the engineers to design and develop the best technical solutions to meet business needs and are highly scalable, reliable, extensible and maintainable, meeting all quality criteria
Manage and execute against project plans, delivery commitments and production support
Hire & retain top talent. Coach and develop your team to be the best in class engineering team
Partner effectively with product management, QE, architecture and partner teams. Influence people across the organizations
Drive and foster a culture of innovation. Be the customer advocate, and ensure all decisions made by you and others are made in the best interest of our customers and business.


Desired Skills and Experience
Track record in building and leading high performing engineering team; motivating, mentoring and growing both junior and senior ICs
Experience and proven track record in driving cross group functionality & initiatives and delivering high quality software product
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences, technical and non-technical
Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Experience with agile development methodologies
Deep hands-on development experience & advanced fluency in Java, Restful/SOA web services, design patterns, OO concepts, data structures, XML/JSON, and Web technologies
Experience in database driven application development like Oracle, My SQL, No SQL
Experience in building platform product is preferred
Master or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering.
12+ years of experience building successful production software systems.
5+ years of people management experience
