Director - Marketing - Cubist Pharmaceuticals - Lexington


Job description
In this role, the Marketing Director will lead the US Gram+ Marketing team responsible for the professional and branded patient promotions of Cubist’s flagship brand, CUBICIN, and the recently launched antibiotic SIVEXTRO. Working in conjunction with brand leadership, sales and portfolio partners, this individual and their team will help to craft portfolio strategy and be responsible for creating and developing a comprehensive promotional plan that will align with the product’s value proposition and core positioning. This individual is responsible for overseeing various channels across the brand, personal and non-personal promotions and digital initiatives. In addition, this position will involve hiring, managing, and developing direct reports. The role will be evaluated based on accomplishment of strategic and operational objectives as well as on the effectiveness of talent management and leadership skills. Finally, the individual will ensure a culture of compliance.

Key responsibilities include:
Direct team to develop and implement tactics that are aligned with strategic priorities
Provide input into overall marketing strategy and developing vision for the marketing function

Effectively manages direct reports, assesses skills and development needs. Develops talent base and anticipates development needs within area of responsibility.
Establish productive collaboration and consistency of brand positioning with commercial colleagues (sales training, market research, sales operations, IT) and other Cubist colleagues (medical affairs, corporate communications, regulatory, etc.)
Develop multi-channel promotions plan in alignment with portfolio strategy that balances direct, non-personal and alternative channel tactics, including the identification and development of effectiveness measures
Partner with Market Research and Sales to identify customer segments, profiles and messages across channels

Minimum Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree
8-10 years marketing and commercial experience including brand leadership in the Pharmaceutical or Biotech Industry
Product launch experience in the Pharmaceutical or Biotech Industry
Fluency in Regulatory, Compliance and PhRMA codes and requirements for pharmaceutical promotions
Minimum 3 years as a direct manager
Record of delivering outstanding results
Vendor/agency management experience
Understanding of the industry regulatory and compliance landscape and emerging trends
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interact with all levels of the organization
Ability to manage multiple activities and prioritize effectively
Thrives working in a fast paced environment

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

Graduate degree (MBA, Pharm.D., Masters in Public Policy/Public Health)
Experience in field sales or related areas
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Cross-functional leadership experience

Work Environment:

This position will be based in the Lexington office and requires significant interaction and collaboration with other Cubist functions (Sales, Sales Training, Regulatory, Legal, Medical, Commercial Services and Analytics, etc.) and external partners (advertising agency, medical communications, etc.)
