Director - Internet - IT Operations - Entomo - Seattle


Job description
Director of Internet Operations is responsible for the strategy and execution of our IT infrastructure while making a real impact on our fast-paced daily production operations, which ultimately supports the experience for our customers. This is an extremely critical role for the company and is responsible for the 24x7 availability and security of our physical infrastructure on which the Entomo cloud runs. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the IT requirements to sustain a SaaS model, including the need to mitigate risks across the board, lead and coordinate a team and identify cost effective IT solutions suitable for our business requirements.

Director of Internet Operations is responsible for the operation of a 24x7x365 On Demand/SaaS environment which requires on-call for oversight during incident escalations outside of normal business hours.

You will be metrics driven, highly analytical, with exceptional project/program management capabilities, and solid communication skills. You are results-oriented, practical, efficient, and well-balanced on process, planning, and strategic thinking.
Strategy & Planning
In partnership with the Executive and Leadership team, identify opportunities and risks for delivering the company’s services as a SaaS business.
Develop and execute a strategy for a cost effective technology infrastructure for the 7x24 data center operation that is scalable, reliable and secure.
Develop and execute an enterprise-wide information security plan that protects the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the company’s data and servers.
Develop and execute an enterprise-wide disaster recovery and business continuity plan.
Develop and execute a plan to certify the data center operations with latest standards in operational management such as SSAE 16 Type 2.
Operations Management
Evaluate and identify appropriate IT technology platforms and infrastructure for delivering the company’s services.
Participate as a member of the Leadership team in establishing governance processes of direction and control to ensure that objectives are achieved, risks are managed appropriately and the organization’s resources are used responsibly, in the areas of production and office networks and computers, and telecommunications.
Collaborate with all departments to assess and recommend technologies that support company organizational needs.
Ensure the company’s internal technological processes and customer-facing services comply with applicable laws and regulations for privacy and security.
Ensure that IT technology standards and best practices are maintained across the organization
Supervise recruitment, training, retention, and organization of IT staff in accordance with the company hiring process, personnel policies, and budget requirements
Manage the day to day operations of the Data Center Operations team, including hiring, work assignments, deliverables, objectives, goals, development plans, and performance reviews.
Manage, facilitate and deploy new Data Center Operations initiatives for architecture, design and implementation.
Develop policies and processes for SSAE 16 certification of the Entomo's SaaS delivery organization.

Desired Skills and Experience
BS or MS Degree in computer Science or Electrical Engineering or the equivalent rigorous discipline.
3+ years experience working in a startup company.
Minimum 10 years' experience in Datacenter operations with 5+ years in a lead role running a 24x7 Datacenter operation.
Experience planning, designing, and executing Datacenter expansion, consolidations, relocations, and migrations.
Well versed in disaster recovery, security, compliance, and risk management per infrastructure operations.
Experience in leading Datacenter certification standards like SSAE 16.
Well versed in change management, incident resolution, and problem management best practices.
Demonstrate a holistic understanding of datacenter operations (production operations, server, storage, network, database, systems mgt, backup storage, helpdesk, DR/BCP practices, etc.).
5+ years hands on experience with Linux, Virtualization using VMWare and Networking
5+ years experience in production systems monitoring and troubleshooting, systems security and SLA development in a hosted environment, enterprise backup and disaster recovery processes, capacity planning and performance management.
Demonstrated knowledge of Oracle database performance and scalability design
Experience with Active Directory, Microsoft Platforms and Environments is a plus
Experience with information security vulnerabilities and risk management
