BUSINESS CONTRIBUTION:
The successful candidate is responsible for managing all activities within the global procurement department including supplier development, RFP/RFQ process, contract negotiations, inventory levels and turns, achieving cost reduction targets, designing effective internal auditing processes, supplier management and knowledge/execution of business systems and continuous improvement initiatives. This position must be a champion in strategic cost savings, team building, and supporting the company's business beliefs while creating a world class, professional purchasing team to support global organizational excellence.


RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Apply strategic sourcing practices and manage supplier negotiations to ensure full benefits are realized and sustained
Evaluate and manage vendors and suppliers, negotiating terms and conditions to obtain necessary MRO, raw materials and inventory in a timely and cost effective manner, while ensuring on-time performance and meeting of customer expectations
Analyze global sourcing market and develop a strategy for how and where to source commodities. Monitor prices and services from suppliers, impact based on annual usage, and report findings to the organization
Manage acquisition planning by determining global needs, analyzing requirements and competition, sourcing selections and negotiations
Lead major negotiations and large sourcing engagements within global span
Lead activities to reduce costs and create greater efficiencies, economies of scale, or better quality resources for a given project team or business plan
Analyze significant inventory trends and changes in suppliers and prices to capitalize on opportunities and maximize company's position
Develop a strong, cohesive global procurement team that works in harmony with Supply Chain and Product Lines to select suppliers for new products, make vs. buy decisions, and optimize Blount’s supplier base
Continually seek ways to improve procurement processes through global Continuous Improvement initiatives, integrating best practices at each location
Participate in the team member life cycle including selection and onboarding of qualified employees, training via internal and external resources, providing performance feedback in annual reviews, coaching and mentoring, recognition, administering salaries per policy, and disciplinary action
Up to 50% global travel

Desired Skills and Experience
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree required; Major in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or Engineering preferred
MBA preferred
Lean / Six Sigma training preferred
APICS / CPP, CPIM, CSCP or ISP Certifications required

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Ten or more years of strategic procurement experience, having reached at least the director or manager level at a mid-sized or large corporation (greater than $500 million in annual revenue)
Experience managing a global procurement operation
Must have a strong understanding of manufacturing and quality principles
Experience consolidating a company's global procurement functions
In-depth experience developing off-shore sourcing operations
Experience using SAP, or similar Tier I ERP
Expertise in a broad range of procurement activities, including inventory and supply chain management, technical sourcing projects including those involving close interfacing with other functions such as Engineering and Quality, and leading-edge procurement practices
Solid understanding of purchasing and supplier management principles with a background in LCC
Demonstrated excellence in leadership and negotiation skills
Ability to apply continuous improvement in a leadership role
Outstanding communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation. Credibility with internal stakeholders and external audiences; comfortable meeting with and presenting to executives and senior management
Demonstrated ability as a change agent, possessing the strategic, analytical and teamwork skills needed to drive major decisions across the organization
Must be able to develop and foster an environment of team work among the procurement group
Stand for the success of employees by providing feedback, development opportunities, and recognition; counseling and coaching employees as needed
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook PowerPoint)
Must be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally multiple times per year
