Director - Global Commodity - GE - Fairfield
Job description
The Director - Global Commodity will be responsible for development & execution of the sourcing strategy for the assigned commodity family, driving one-GE sourcing to maximize synergies. The 7 global commodity families are: Logistics, T&L/Fleet, Utilities, Purchased Services, Labor Services, MRO& Facilities, and IT & Telecom. The GCL will provide leadership and expertise across all regions and GE businesses.
Essential Responsibilities
Develop and execute a commodity strategy at a global and regional scale, ensuring total spend/scale is leveraged and each sub-commodity is benchmarked externally & linked to GE business and regional strategic growth plans, market changes, product innovation, production plans & business M&A
Manage a large global team of direct & indirect reports (sourcing personnel & key functional/business stakeholders) to define and drive execution of the commodity; define global commodity organizational strategy/design & plan to more effectively support the business & region needs and maximize business impact
Operationalize ongoing monitoring of market dynamics (e.g. key indices, technology, benchmarking, etc.) and incorporate into & adjust commodity strategy
Balance strategy development with the tactical execution necessary to implement global and regional contracts as well as cost reduction projects, including collaboration with Finance and GE businesses to validate the impact of projects and contract negotiations
Develop and drive execution for strategic supplier management from selection to contract negotiations and project implementation, as well as ongoing global supplier relationship management, including spend analysis, supplier development and surveillance to meet overall deflation, cash, supplier rationalization and productivity objectives within the assigned sub-commodities at a global, regional and local scale
Incorporate use of key levers into the global strategy (preferred supplier penetration, eAuctions, eCatalogue usage/content, Days-to-Pay, TPS penetration, etc.) to maximize savings and cash impact including setting of targets, tracking & reporting progress
Employ supplier diversity & global supply locations as strategic advantages; ensure sub-commodity org structure allows for integrated delivery globally while meeting local needs, from the strategy development to the execution of contracts, projects and initiatives
Manage supplier risk, performance & compliance, including an operating rhythm with key suppliers
Establish & execute operating rhythms with sourcing personnel & key stakeholders to proactively gather requirements; communicate: market dynamics , commodity strategy, goals/targets & pulse progress
Enforce business policies to meet business targets and customer needs, including improving procurement processes and optimizing Sourcing resources to enhance the customer experience with the Sourcing process
Desired Skills and Experience
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree from an accredited university or college
Minimum 10 years of experience in sourcing/procurement and/or operations
Minimum 7 years of industry expertise in Labor Services commodities
Eligibility Requirements:
Willingness and ability to travel at least 25% of the time and internationally when needed
Preferred location of Cincinnati, OH; Budapest, Hungary; Shanghai, China; Monterrey, Mexico, Atlanta, GA, Ft. Myers, FL, Paris, France, Phoenix, Arizona, Pittsfield, MA, Fairfield, CT, Alpharetta, GA. Location flexible globally.
Desired Characteristics:
Extensive global experience leading cross-functional or geographically dispersed teams
MBA
Minimum 10 years supplier management experience
Strong financial, quantitative and data analysis skills
Familiarity with Sourcing Systems
