Director, Finance - Global Rail This position is part of the Transportation and International Finance segment controllership function of CIT, which is a Fortune 500, public finance and leasing company. The Director of Finance leads the accounting and reporting for Global Rail business unit, working across the enterprise to ensure an efficient, well controlled financial reporting process. The Director of Finance-Global Rail is a key participant presenting Business Unit results to senior TIF and CIT leadership.


The role includes prioritizing and directing action on Corporate requests, coordinating Corporate resources when required by the Business Unit activities, participating in problem solving as Business Unit issues arise, and directly managing a team in Chicago, as well as influencing the work streams and priorities of a team of accountants in our global accounting organization. The primary focus of this role is Controllership, along with a strong emphasis on Financial Planning & Analysis. Prepare and review financial statements and ensure timely and appropriate presentation of results in accordance with GAAP, SEC and regulatory disclosures relating to the businesses and related legal entities.

Review and approve data to be included in CIT's 10-Q and 10-K.

Ensure key controls and processes for Global Rail are operating and documented.

Play leadership role in support for M&A and structured transactions and other ad hoc initiatives by providing technical accounting
consulting/advisory services to support structured transactions, including during due diligence and transaction structuring

Coordinate annual planning and periodic forecast development and presentation with Senior Rail management Rail, and TIF FP & A.

Participate in and prepare financial sections of Rail presentations as needed

Oversee investor and securitization reporting and stand-alone audited financial statements of related entities as needed.

Implement accounting standards under company policy and GAAP and ensure dissemination of new accounting pronouncements

Develop Rail specific accounting policy guidance, in consultation with TIF Segment leadership and with appropriate CIT Corporate experts.

Oversee annual asset impairment and residual reviews for Global Rail.

Partner with the business to improve controls and processes.

Coordinate annual planning and periodic forecast development an presentation with Senior Rail management Rail, and TIF FP & A.

Work with internal and external auditors, bank and holding company regulators, and Sarbox and other examiners.

Oversee account certification of general ledger activity of the Business Unit.

Monitor covenants in material financing, procurement and other significant contracts.

Qualifications:

Accounting degree and CPA required.

10 or more years in an accounting/finance role; Rail and/or leasing experience preferred.

Demonstrated experience in accounting and financial reporting (examples may include derivatives, business combinations, consolidation, leasing and other forms of structured financings)

Auditing experience preferred

Experience with PeopleSoft general ledger, Hyperion Essbase and InfoLease beneficial.
