Position Overview:
For the Technology Industry, NPD delivers reliable, objective information and insights about sales, ownership, and usage in the technology industry. We provide a total market view of the technology industry all channels including Distribution, Commercial Resellers, VAR’s and even retail and ecommerce.
This Industry Analyst leads the analysis and insights for enterprise channels, and categories including the data center and networking infrastructure. This individual will have direct responsibility for analysis of key findings, driving deeper insights around enterprise technology trends to our clients, both in person, and via blogs and Web based discussions, and will partner with our support teams to drive improvements in our information as the market changes.

The preferred locations for this position are Port Washington, NY, Reston, Virginia, San Francisco, CA or San Diego, CA, but we are also open to other considerations.

Overall Responsibilities:
• Directs analysis and insights in data center and corporate technologies, seamlessly integrating NPD’s various information assets with market knowledge.
• Leads category related engagements/presentations with clients. Develops and gives client presentations to cross-functional and senior audiences.
• Partners with our Technology Product team to build new and refine existing syndicated research services.
• Supports our Business, and Client Development teams, in providing data analyses, strategic discussions, presentations, etc.
• Attends client & prospect meetings, and speaks at industry trade shows as the expert in Enterprise Technology trends.
• Drives a higher level of brand awareness for NPD in the Enterprise space. Supports PR requests, developing content for articles and trade publications, with data and category knowledge.
• Develops and defines category hierarchy and definitions.
• Regularly and independently generates insightful analyses from the data.
• Act as an insights mentor for client development staff, and support value added client deliverables.

Desired Skills and Experience
5+ years research, manufacturer, or consulting experience inclusive of data analysis.
• Knowledge and expertise in data center technologies including, cloud base applications, networking equipment, servers, and enterprise storage.
• Ability to synthesize data and develop meaningful conclusions and insights.
• Ability to draw data from internal databases and external sources, organize and analyze the data and create research reports.
• Good customer presence with strong communication/presentation skills and leadership abilities, allowing the individual to speak to clients/prospects as an authority on the business and the category.
• Solid understanding of primary and secondary research methodologies, including survey design, strengths and limitations, and how it can address business questions.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Ability to multi-task and manage the details while keeping an eye on the big picture.
• Expert in all MS Office products. (Strong Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Travel typically 25% of the year.
• Prior experience with NPD a plus.
