Director - Credit Risk Monitoring and Portfolio Management - Santander Bank - Boston
Job description
Responsible for managing mid level managers and professional staff and overseeing operations of Commercial Credit Monitoring and Appraisal & Environmental Departments.
Provides leadership for planning, developing and monitoring policies, procedures and systems used in internal credit monitoring processes throughout the bank.
Directs staff in areas of delinquency management, alarm detection, customer and portfolio credit reviews, monitoring of processes, adequacy of the customers' ratings.
Provides leadership for developing and executing policies, procedures for the appraisal and environmental risk.
Liaison with the regulators, external and internal auditors, regarding the customer reviews and other credit risk issues.
Responsible in coordination with the Compliance Department and the Project Manager Office of the Regulators Remediation Plan.
Coordination of the PMO of the Regulators Remediation Plan and preparation and participation of the Regulators Steering Committee.
Liaison with the regulators for Credit and Market Risk. Coordination of the responses to the regulators.
Develops and oversees strategies to optimize controls, efficacy and efficiency over each activity involving Commercial Credit Monitoring.
Develops relationships and works strategically with business lines to improve the knowledge of the credit risk, anticipate problems and mitigate losses.
Provides leadership to the Appraisal & Environmental staff overseeing development of the appraisal and environmental policies and procedures, systems, resources and execution of the function.
Directs credit review meetings process and FEVE implementation within the Bank, and presents results to the Executive Management.
Directs the development of the monitoring of customers, portfolios and processes.
Provides leadership, supervision and training to Monitoring staff overseeing development of credit monitoring policies and procedures as well as methodology to drive components of monitoring process.
Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelors or Equivalent
Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or equivalent experience.
10-15 years commercial lending experience; experience managing a large team.
Demonstrated track record interacting with the regulators, external and internal audit. Good knowledge of the operational, accounting, credit, regulatory, market and technological risks within Financial Institutions.
Demonstrated track record of managing a team, strong individual contributions, interacting with Executive level management and working within a team environment.
Knowledge of credit policies and procedures, regulations and applicable law.
Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
