Director - Engineering - Quality Assurance - Verizon - Boston


Job description
This Director level position will be responsible for building a world-class quality organization and ensuring the quality of a suite of products and Internet services. This leader of the quality organization will be a strategic thinker with a successful track record who is passionate about quality and drives process and practices for high quality, predictable delivery of products.
Responsibilities
Hire, retain, develop a high performing motivated and talented team, coaching and mentoring them to deliver high quality products and services. Lead teams onshore and offshore
Create and effectively communicate a vision for quality and gain buy in from Senior Leadership as well as influence team to deliver on it.
Responsible for Test strategy, planning, execution, quality metric definition, Tracking and reporting quality metrics leading to successful delivery of products.
Lead a 24*7 support group, build, maintain and achieve customer SLA requirements

The position will also require leading cross functional collaboration with program management, other functional groups within the company, and with vendors.
Passionate about automation and continuous improvement and drive the concept within the organization and beyond by delivering on reusable automation frameworks and test cases
Effective negotiation and technical quality concept evangelization
Drive results within time, budget and quality
Other responsibilities include people and leadership development, budgeting for the group, strategic planning, project and lab management and being able to present technical concepts to a diverse audience.
The vision of the job will eventually evolve into managing the full product lifecycle for one or multiple products

Skills
10+ years managing Quality teams with 50+ people
10+ years of Quality Assurance experience including test strategy development, test planning, execution, and reporting
10+ years of test methodology, quality process definition, and managing QA lab and test equipment
7+ years of experience in technologies related to networking, High Availability systems targeted for carrier class networks, web applications, product delivery and deployment
7+ years of experience in project management including waterfall and agile methodologies
Effective communication, organization, and decision making skills
Ability to hire, motivate, retain and develop talent
Successful track record of delivering revenue generating products to the market place
Ability to play a cross functional role, interfacing with different functional teams and influence technical and project directions
Experience in telecommunications, data networking domains a plus
Customer facing skills and managing a customer support/sustaining group a plus
