Director - Contracts - Bigge Crane and Rigging - San Francisco


Job description
We are looking for a Director of Contracts with experience in the construction industry for our headquarters in San Leandro, CA. This person will collaborate with department personnel to complete contracts review and execution. Director of Contracts will personally complete the contracts review and /or formation in coordination and approval of the Division Vice Presidents. You will need to have a thorough understanding of contracting, risk management, and insurance; and how they will affect our business decisions.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Lead contracting, subcontracting, and risk management efforts, in support of the various business lines, divisions and branches.
Assure basic contract terms meet company standards, and seek and obtain appropriate executive approval for any exceptions.
Assist with negotiating with insurance carriers and brokers to obtain cost-effective insurance policies that balance risk, coverage, deductibles, and limits against programs and budgets.
Draft Various Standard Contracts and Update based on Lessons Learned.
Train personnel on Contract Terms and Conditions.

Coordinate with departments and management in negotiation of contract Terms and Conditions
Negotiate contract terms and conditions directly with customers.
Track and Report status of contract review and execution.
Advise management on legal effect of contract terms and conditions.
Resolve insurance and bonding issues.
Confirm insurance coverage applicability for various projects with insurance broker and obtain insurance riders and pricing when necessary.
Review incumbent contracts and evaluate Company’s exposure.

Desired Skills and Experience
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:
BA/BS degree is required.
10+ years’ experience contracting, contract formation, subcontracting, in the construction industry with at least 5 at the management level.
Excellent communication and negotiating skills.
Sound knowledge of federal and multi-state regulations affecting insurance and contracts.
A relevant industry designation, such as CPCM is preferred.
Experience in the construction and/or heavy equipment industries.
