Director - Cash Management & Investments - Independence Blue Cross - Philadelphia

Job Summary
Reporting to the VP - Treasury, this role will create, implement and direct Cash Management and Investment strategies while collaborating with senior executives in Finance, Operations and Enterprise Risk Management in order to achieve desired enterprise goals and maximize total return on assets within specified risk tolerances.
Cash Management Responsibilities
Collaborate with business unit and subsidiary resources to develop, lead and direct an enterprise-wide Cash Management framework consistent with organizational objectives and business processes, while integrating financial reporting to various audiences including the VP - Treasury, CRO and senior leadership.
Lead and influence enterprise wide resources to develop better solutions and achieve a crossfunctional mindset. This will necessitate partnering with key business resources in the support of Cash Management strategies, while leveraging knowledge of various business processes and exception processing.
Build, lead, coach and develop a small team of approximately 5 associates.
Drive change toward “best practices” across the organization while supporting employees through the process and keeping them focused on business priorities.
Stay informed and updated on the latest Cash Management trends as well as ensuring an appropriate control mindset across the enterprise by tracking and advising on key Cash Management metrics.
Build strong relationships with internal & external business partners (banks) to collaborate in the achievement of enterprise objectives.
Engage in problem solving and develop immediate or longer term solutions, as required.
Advocate for maintaining proactive, outstanding client services.
Investments Responsibilities
Contribute to the development of investment strategy, risk management frameworks and analytics based on an understanding of the underlying exposures for the $3B investment portfolio and the pension portfolio.
Responsible for conducting rigorous due diligence, including: sourcing ideas, evaluating and monitoring prospective and current investment managers, and fulfilling all related aspects of documentation.
Lead research and analysis on a wide variety of evolving topics by working extensively with our investment advisors and managers.
Support key strategic initiatives involving the use of enterprise assets.
Preparation for and presentations to the Investment and Finance Committees as required.
Possess a sincere interest in the non-profit sector and have an innate sense of responsibility with regard to representing the Independence Family of Companies.
Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics required.
Postgraduate degree (M.B.A. or other advanced degree in economics, finance, business, etc.) or C.F.A. designation preferred.
10+ years experience in Finance or Investments related areas, ideally in Insurance, Banking or Financial Services with substantial knowledge of the financial markets and related cash management and investment tools.
5+ years experience leading and developing a team in a matrixed environment
Sound understanding of Banking structure and Treasury best practices.
Proven ability to influence and challenge senior management.
Excellent written and verbal communication, as well as presentation skills to C-Suite audiences.
