Senior Director - Assembly Operations - Ogin - Los Angeles

Job description
The Senior Director of Assembly Operations is responsible for the strategic development and execution of the Company’s internal manufacturing and assembly functions according to schedule and budgets.

The Senior Director is responsible for designing and advancing the set-up of Ogin’s internal manufacturing and assembly facility to world-class standards, including all aspects from receiving raw materials and components to materials flow through the factory to the shipment of finished and tested modules.
The Senior Director will own the acceptance of the finished product and will lead continuous improvement of the manufacturing process. This individual will also contribute to broader activities across Ogin, including those related to product design, supplier management, and process development.
Specific responsibilities include the following:
Develop and manage manufacturing activity schedules, resource plan and budget in collaboration with Engineering and other stakeholders.
Maintain responsibility for the factory P&L.
Review and participate in the cost-out activities relative to the Ogin shroud, with specific focus on internal and external assembly methods (e.g. Design for Manufacturing) to meet schedule and cost targets.
Develop and mentor the manufacturing team to deliver the shroud design configuration using planned manufacturing practices.
Provide leadership to implement shroud design intent through stamping, material handling, tool/tool room control, assembly/automated assembly and preventive maintenance.
Ensure continuous improvement in assembly operations by designing and implementing:
Performance Management System
Root Cause Problem Solving (RCPS) Structure
Standardized Work Procedures
Collaborate with all other Ogin departments and stakeholders to create synergies and continuous improvements.
Ensure that factory setup enables a scale-up to meet future capacity and adhere’s to Ogin’s requirements relative to safety and quality.
Build and develop the organization/team to meet the ramp up in production.
Instill and champion the Ogin High 5 behaviors and culture across the manufacturing facility.

The Senior Director will also be involved in the product design of the major components of the Ogin turbine, which may include the following activities:
Ensure quality and customer satisfaction with delivered products and services
Apply Lean principles to Ogin`s processes in general
Define make/buy strategy for parts
Participate in and lead cost down activities to achieve targets
Work with suppliers regarding new materials and methods
Develop new processes and methods for manufacturing
Reduce lead-time and inventory

Desired Skills and Experience
Required Skills:
Ten (10) plus years’ experience leading factory operations in a heavy equipment/industrial organization
Prior experience with and knowledge of stamping and metal fabrication processes, material handling, stamped section assembly, assembly automation, tool room control and product acceptance
Expertise with Lean, Six Sigma and other contemporary methods for process improvement
Engineering training and acumen
Prior experience creating, reviewing, and implementing policies and procedures, work instructions, and test procedures
Knowledge of Supplier Quality Management techniques and customer interface
Effective planning, facilitating and team coordination skills
Strong leadership competencies, including prior leadership of manufacturing floor teams
Proven record of managing factory operations to schedule and cost targets
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Hands-on approach and attitude

Desired Skills:
Bilingual language skills are a plus (Spanish)
Prior experience in a factory setting undergoing growth or production ramp-ups

Required Education:
Masters of Science in an engineering discipline (e.g., industrial, electrical, or mechanical engineering)
