Director - Operations - PurEnergy - Syracuse
Job description
The Director of Operations is responsible for the operational efficiency and effectiveness of Projects operated by PurEnergy Operating Services (PEOS). The primary function is to ensure that PEOS has consistent direction, standards, operating policies, procedures, marketing strategies and philosophies at all PEOS sites. Ensures that uniform safety, compliance, reliably, efficiently and environmental policies and procedures are followed so that PEOS operations maintain the highest level of compliance to PEOS philosophy of operations. This individual will support all of the plants during extraordinary events both administratively and technically.
Desired Skills and Experience
Supervise Plant Managers in their management, personal and technical responsibilities. That the projects are operating safely, in regulatory compliance, reliably, and efficiently.
Ensure Operations and Maintenance Procedures are maintained and compliant to PEOS Standards.
Ensure that the Plants maintain a qualified staff through direct supervision and training.
Understands all Operations & Maintenance Agreements to help the Plant Managers maintain PEOS in compliance.
Works with the President of PEOS and the HR Manager to set supervisory training plans for Plant Managers, O&M Managers and Supervisors. Provide ongoing support, training and development of operations staff.
Works with Plant Managers to identify potential supervisors & managers within the organization and prepare plans to develop candidates, i.e. succession planning.
Help develop, support, execute and effectively manage P&L’s and Business Plan and support Plant Managers during annual budget preparation.
Work with Plant Managers on capital budgets to improve operations and maintenance procedures.
Develop new operational techniques to increase the project economics.
Work closely with Asset Managers to nurture and maintain strong relationships with Project Owners, Lenders, Customers, Contractors, etc. by keeping them informed of the status of the operations.
Assist in marketing PurEnergy services to current and potential clients. This can include phone calls, emails, personal visits and meetings as well as trade show venues.
Support management team in proposals writing and submissions.
Work with President of PEOS and PEOS personnel to standardize all general operating, maintenance, safety, and administrative procedures throughout the company as the point of control.
Assist President of PEOS in developing and delivering strategies and tactics to achieve business sales and O&M targets.
Be actively involved in the recruitment, coaching, mentoring, evaluate of Plant Managers.
Maximize operational productivity through deployment of key operational and maintenance measures.
Must be able to travel to Plant sites located throughout the US, enter plant operating sites to inspect operations and visit personnel, and have the ability to access operating structures via stairways and ladders.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Management and at least 10 years experience working in the power utility industry or related industry; or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a work related industry with strong demonstrated technical and managerial capability.
Minimum of 7 years of management experience with technical, operations, and maintenance personnel.
Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings such as P&IDs, single line diagrams, schematics, and logics.
Strong leadership, communication, and motivational skills required.
Excellent oral and written communication and supervisory skills.
