Procurement Director - Software Category - Fidelity Investments - Westlake


Job description
Acting in the capacity of business consultant, this highly skilled, focused individual will assume responsibility of the software commodity classes which require either highly technical or specialized commodity knowledge and/or skills. Develop high risk and highly complex non-standard business terms within a broad array of areas. Interface with all levels of management, including Senior and Executive levels, and provide guidance and counsel on business issues. Coordinate company wide effort in establishing and maintaining business controls for high dollar and high exposure engagements. Interface directly with Procurement Contracts, Risk Management, Legal, Outside Counsel, Finance and business unit personnel to ensure appropriate review and input is incorporated into all contracts. Manage Procurement evaluations to establish and maintain business controls for high dollar and high exposure contracts. In accomplishing these tasks, individual must function with minimum direction, while being effective in a dynamic environment often with no precedent having been established.



The Software Category management Director works with no direct supervision and assists in defining the annual category strategy. They are responsible for knowing, understanding and adhering to the department's policies and procedures, including Fidelity's procedures for suppliers. They are involved in complex negotiations requiring commodity and Procurement expertise.

Primary Responsibilities

Software Category Management
Develop, negotiate business terms, administer and manage category management engagements with the greatest complexity and/or exposure and involving the most significant risk or potential liability to Fidelity
Interface with senior BU personnel, ensure sourcing objectives align with key stakeholder expectations, and provide project status and analysis throughout the sourcing development phases.
Provide the company with industry specific expertise and strategic direction on complex commodity groups, requiring state-of-the-art knowledge of business processes, commodity specific business term contractual language, and product/service offerings.
Lead the development of complex "risk/benefit" analysis for new product/technologies and with appropriate end-user participation and provide visibility by formal presentation to management as to expected cost of processing benefits and impact
Coordinate, develop and manage RFP/RFI process and participate in the analysis and evaluation of proposals and the development of appropriate recommendations
Work with suppliers and internal Business Units to identify, research and resolve issues and to develop corrective action programs and monitor progress and identify opportunities
Document on-going activities in coordination with Contract Managers.
Establish expert working knowledge of internal and sourcing approval and funding processes of assigned BUs
Supplier Management
Lead research of technology trends, market/economic conditions and demand patterns in the assigned commodity areas
Identify and develop alternate/additional supply sources, and assess financial stability, quality performance and capabilities of potential Suppliers. Provide impact as to how trends etc. affect Fidelity.
Relationship Management
Influence senior participants in new product/service evaluation process by demonstrating a high degree of knowledge in both the technical and business aspects effecting a decision.
Demonstrated sensitivity to and ability to integrate the objectives of various Fidelity business units, as well as overall Fidelity objectives, into engagements with Suppliers. Throughout this process, incumbent will lead the process of prioritizing issues to effectively resolve and mitigate potential impact.
Interface with all levels of management including senior and executive levels, and provide guidance and counsel on business, category management and contracting issues
Expand and promote the role of Procurement throughout Fidelity
Perform formal Relationship Management duties when and as assigned by management formal Relationship Management duties when and as assigned by management
Works to optimize interdependencies of Commodity Management, Contract Management and operational concerns to optimize supplier-related opportunities
Customer Satisfaction
Work closely with support staff and assigned Business Units to ensure Procurement is providing the highest level of support and resolve all open issues.
Influence savings/process improvement opportunities to optimize customer spending
Respond to business unit inquiries and special requests
Employee Development
Support VP Category management in development of function and category plans
Provide management support to a staff of skilled professionals within a commodity Procurement function to insure that daily operational tasks are performed in an efficient, cost effective and timely manner.

Desired Skills and Experience
Education and Experience
BS/BA degree.
MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 12 plus years Procurement related experience, at least 8-10 years Procurement/Software Category management experience.
SaaS icloud software experience highly desired.
Skills and Knowledge
Ability to deal well with and influence upper levels of management inside and outside Fidelity.
Ability to work productively in a team environment in either a leadership or individual capacity and to be able to build strong business relationship with internal clients.
Ability to lead business terms and conditions negotiations, and partner with Contracts Managers.
Ability to develop and implement strategic objectives.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple vendor relationships.
Excellent analysis skills to review and evaluate supplier performance and proposals.
Strong problem solving skills.
Excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills.
Excellent client/customer focus and collaboration/teamwork skills.
Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Access at an intermediate level to prepare reports and spreadsheets.
Strong knowledge of business law as it relates to assigned areas of responsibility.
Proactive management of multiple Supplier relationships and ability to work well under pressure.
Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Access at an intermediate level to prepare presentations, reports and spreadsheets.
