POSITION SUMMARY
The National Accounts Director of Business Development's primary responsibility is to serve as a trusted, consultative partner in driving business development through sales and retention efforts. They work with a cross-functional team to develop proposals that differentiate Aetnas value through the strategic positioning of our products and services. They also manage a team of Proposal Consultants and Proposal Writers and serve as the primary contact for RFP management and strategic issues on medical, dental, pharmacy and vision RFPs.

Fundamental Components:
The Director of Business Development is responsible for working on proposals for new and existing business and oversees the RFP process from end-to-end. The proposals range from straightforward to highly complex and represent a diverse book of business in the National Accounts business segment. In addition, in order to build, develop and maintain a high performance team they provide daily coaching and development. They also continually look for opportunities to improve the productivity of the team and help create commitment to and support for organizational change efforts.

The Director of Business Development is responsible for cultivating key relationships across the organization, identifying and engaging the organizational resources needed to achieve results, understanding and responding to market conditions and conveying Aetnas core business strategies.

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:
The successful candidate will be a seasoned professional who has demonstrated strong skills and experience in management, marketing, communications, underwriting/financial concepts and sales support.

EDUCATION
The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
