Director - UX-UI Design - BroadSoft - San Jose
Job description
BroadSoft (BSFT) is leading the industry in supplying IP based communication solutions. We provide those solutions as software our customers can install and run within their networks or as hosted services we manage on their behalf. The solution includes voice, video, chat, text, collaboration, screen sharing, conferencing, video/video mail, webRTC, presence, etc. Essentially all the capabilities of a next generation IP communication solution. The goal of our UX/UI is to present complexity in an easy to use and engaging manner across mobile, tablet, desktop and web interfaces for both end users and system administrators. It is quite a challenging task.
We are looking for a visionary design director to lead our global UX effort. This includes UX teams in multiple sites working closely with engineering teams. As the leader of the design team, you will be responsible for not only leading the UX efforts but also coaching the engineering teams to think about design from the very beginning, working closely with Product Management to include user experience in the upfront product requirements and establishing a process for gathering user feedback and incorporating it quickly into product revisions.
Primary Responsibilities:
? Define the process for UX design and its inclusion into the overall product development cycle
? Coach and mentor a distributed team of UX designers
? Provide the visionary direction for UX design across the BroadSoft product portfolio
? Create a common design language across mobile, tablet, web and desktop
? Establish a structured method for gathering customer feedback early and often through the development process
? Meet with customers to understand their requirements and if needed defend our UX design choices
Desired Skills and Experience
? Bachelor’s degree in design, HCI or a design-related field, plus 7+ years professional design practice, or equivalent experience
? An exceptional portfolio demonstrating a track record of successful design/UX team leadership
? Impeccable sensitivity to visual design
? Strong background in prototyping, usability testing, usability measurement and iterative product design
? Outstanding communication and presentation skills
? Demonstrable examples of successful application design work; communication is a plus
? Successful experience gathering user feedback in a structured, repeatable manner
? Strong working knowledge of HTML and CSS
? Up-to-date knowledge of online product trends and best practices
? Position is based in the Bay Area however there will be travel involved
