Director Group Creative GoPro San Mateo

Job Description:
GoPro is looking for a top tier candidate for the Group Creative Director role. The position will report into the VP of Global Creative/Brand Services and be tasked to lead and develop innovative and creative design solutions for assigned brand projects in partnership with the VP and brand experience team. The GCD will lead projects from conception through execution, partnering with several other cross functional teams to develop compelling and effective design solutions. They will lead team and individual ideation and concept initiatives to continue the scaling of the global brand. They will influence and evolve the design and creative development process. They will also interact with appropriate resources to plan and monitor the process in order to meet specified needs and resolve identified issues.

The GCD will lead the creation of innovative communication, while working responsibly within project time frames and budget parameters. In addition, they will maintain knowledge of current trends, color and materials relevant to the design discipline. The GCD will lead a team of Art Directors and other designers that are responsible for environment designs, strategic integrated resort branding, advertising, events and other brand experience projects globally.

What You Will Do
Lead and manage the brand experience team within the creative department
Know the insides and out of all team projects to ensure design solutions are on strategy and deliverables are met on time and with high level of quality.
Lead projects from concept through completion
Close collaboration with internal creative team leaders, VP of Global Brand Service and cross functional teams
Help contribute to operational processes and workflow as team scales globally
Bring a high level of design standards, practice and aesthetics to all design solutions and executions
Know design holistic strategies and solutions across all mediums
Possess good communication skills to build partnerships with internal marketing teams


Skills We're Stoked About
Ability to design in addition to leading a team. Will be required to produce design comps, presentation docs and production of files—roll up sleeves where needed.
Bachelors' degree in Design
10+ years of progressively technically sophisticated experience in design
3+ years of management experience
Proven ability to apply and perform design skills (i.e. drawing/sketching, typography, ideation, color theory, use of texture, spacing, and scale, visual presentation development, layout, multimedia and digital)
Demonstrated ability to apply creative skills in innovative ways that elevate brand excellence
Knowledge of trends influencing design in general and action sports specifically
Ability to effectively elevate strategic concerns to senior management in a timely and accurate manner
Proven ability to lead development of the creative through execution
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to author presentations and concepts
Ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines
Strong knowledge of all creative software and tools
