Director - Sales - Gotham Greens - New York


Job description
Gotham Greens is seeking an exceptional individual to lead and manage the company’s sales department. The Sales Director is responsible for contributing to sales growth of the brand through new customer acquisition, customer retention and growth opportunities with current customer base. The company is currently active in the North East and Midwest Regions with rapid additional expansion plans. The Sales Director will be in contact daily with current and prospective customers, managing opportunity and up-selling current accounts.
This role will: manage sales operations; customer service; develop and implement sales strategies that articulate, influence and further develop the Gotham Greens brand. The Sales Director reports directly to the CEO and works closely alongside all company teams. The ideal candidate is passionate about sustainable agriculture and embraces Gotham Greens’ core values and mission. Prior experience in the natural and organic industry and existing relationships with retailers, distributors and food service is required. Experience in the produce category and strong relationships in the Northeast, New England, and Midwest are strongly preferred. The position is based in New York with opportunities to transfer to other company locations in the future.

Desired Skills and Experience
Responsibilities:
Manage all retail, food service and restaurant accounts
Develop new sales accounts including retail, restaurant and other
Develop relationships at and within store departments as well as at wholesale and distributor
levels. Daily contact with accounts.
Provide outstanding customer service
Develop and implement effective programs that drive Gotham Greens’ growth through strategic, promotional, merchandising support including new store openings and partnerships.
Utilize ERP systems and sales tools for all aspects of account management from lead generation and contact; accounts set up and fulfillment; improvement of product placement and retail support to complete order cycle.
Provide clear expectations and information regarding out-of-stocks, new product arrivals, order fulfillment times, shipping and all other trouble-shooting required for account management.
Coordinate shipping and distribution with Operations team
Working across departments to ensure customers’ needs are met in all areas including A/R, new product development (R&D, compliance, purchasing), production, fulfillment, shipping and creative.
Maintain compliance with Gotham Greens’ food safety and traceability programs
Travel to and participate in customer visits and tradeshows as needed
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
7-10 years of relevant (specialty food, agriculture, natural and organic CPG) related experience in sales with proven success and knowledge of store and distributor relationships
Proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational development within a growing organization
Strong mentoring, coaching experience to a team with diverse levels of expertise
Entrepreneurial team player who can multitask
Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers
Experience with ERP and CRM systems and sales reports
Excellent analytical, problem solving, and negotiating abilities
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
High attention to detail
Passionate commitment to company vision
Appreciation to principles of sustainable agriculture and food
Experience in merchandising a plus
Successful leadership in early-stage start-ups or other rapid growth environments
Strong knowledge of MS Office
