Director - Gas Supply - Laclede Gas Company - St. Louis


Job description
Direct the gas supply administration functions of the Company, including: dispatching firm gas supplies, reviewing the monthly gas supply plans and deciding on the gas supply levels and locations, and deciding on the level of spot gas supplies and sales needed to balance inventories
Purchase and sell gas supplies on a daily basis; canvas the market in order to capture the best purchase or sales prices for possible delivery locations to capture value for unutilized transportation capacity

Directs the analysis and preparation of the Company’s Reliability Report and Demand/Capacity Analysis to determine the level of gas supply and transportation capacity that is needed prior to each winter heating season and utilize the results of this analysis to plan for the monthly and seasonal send-out requirements throughout the winter season
Act as a designated trader under the hedging activities covered by the Company’s Gas Supply Risk Management Policy
Review the Daily Position Tracking Report for the Company’s risk management program to verify that the positions held by the Company are being accounted for properly and notify the Company’s broker when adjustments or corrections need to be made to their account
Market the unused transportation capacity and negotiate capacity release arrangements
Responsible for the coordination with the Gas Supply and Control Department to ensure that gas supply levels are adequate to meet daily send-out requirements while maintaining storage injection and withdrawal for the Company’s on-system storage
Provide regulatory support in both state and federal energy matters; evaluate regulatory filings, prepare and file testimony, and respond to data requests
Negotiate the terms of NAESB contracts for the purchase and sale of natural gas with potential new trading counterparties
Monitor the gas transportation customers supply nominations to verify that they are consistent with actual usage
Solicit bids for firm natural gas supply as needed; evaluate bids received and provide recommendations to the Vice President, Gas Supply & Operations; provide written notification to suppliers upon acceptance of their bids
Regular attendance is considered an essential job function

Additional Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Ensure that the gas supply volumes bought and sold are accounted for accurately
Consult and assist with various special projects as requested by Vice President, Gas Supply & Operations
Coordinate the vacation and holiday schedules for Gas Supply employees and ensure that their duties are fulfilled in their absence

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises two (6) management employees: Trader & Asset Manager, Natural Gas Services Manager, Gas Supply Scheduling Manager (2) ,Senior Gas Supply Administrator and Gas Supply Administrator

Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in an analytical discipline
Three years of experience dispatching gas supplies and working with weather-related demand, constraints, and flexibility created with natural gas storage assets
Three years of experience assigning gas supplies to available transportation capacity in order to create value for unused assets while still delivering economical gas supplies to holders of those assets
Two years of experience with the management of a financial trading program
Two years of experience reviewing and supporting documents in regulatory proceedings
One year of experience performing pipeline scheduling functions
