Reports to: Chief Information Officer
Direct Reports: Information Technology Department
Summary Description:
This role is responsible for the company’s information technology department. Duties include assisting in the development and maintenance of the corporate IT strategy and its accompanying budget, IT personnel management, and delegation of technology-oriented tactical effort.


Specific Responsibilities:
The Director IT Operations is responsible for employing a systems engineering approach to design complete and complex frameworks and systems while designing at both a conceptual and logical level. Directs implementation in collaboration with IT engineers and analysts, the physical manifestation of designed systems.
Leads the establishment of IT policies, standards, guidelines, operating procedures and design principles.
Analyzes marketplace and industry, technology trends and best practices, vendor products and services to inform and influence business and IT direction
Leads the definition of system and infrastructure specifications, interfaces, and working parameters for hardware and/or software performance, function and compatibility.
Conceives system interfaces and business application prototypes; identifies, analyzes and resolves system design weaknesses.
Must be familiar with operational disciplines such as project management, problem management, change management, network/server monitoring, application monitoring and server backups/restores. Proposes and implements system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the systems. The candidate must also demonstrate the ability to learn new technologies quickly and be able to transfer knowledge to others
Manages overall enterprise operating systems and applications. Responsibilities include configuring, troubleshooting and maintaining servers and workstations as well as additional infrastructure support for data storage, networking, backup and recovery.
Installs and configures operating system (Microsoft and Linux) hardware, operating systems and utility software to stay current with necessary patches and upgrades for overall system availability and security.
Maintains and monitors backup processes
Manages Linux and Active Directory System security through regular assessment and action programs (configuration changes, patch management.
Responds to operating system and application problems and manages problem resolution through internal and external service providers. Following resolution, analyze problem cause(s) and identify opportunities for improvement.
Manages and maintains print and file servers
Develops project plans and requirements, manage project tasks, provide status reports, and act as a technical resource to the project when required.
Participates in IT Operations team support coverage plan being responsible to respond to escalated systems problems 24x7 if necessary.

Desired Skills and Experience
Education/Experience/Attributes

BS/BA or equivalent
8 years experience in IT operations group, 5 years experience as a systems administrator.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Deep technical expertise in several technology domains and broad understanding of how to apply that technology across multiple business functions
Knowledge of Linux, Active Directory Legato, NIS, NFS, Network Appliance, EMC SAN and scripting,.
Knowledge of Storage configuration file system, local disk, NAS, SAN, backup.
Working knowledge of web server support, Microsoft server operating systems (Windows and MAC), and Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange and IIS
Ability to perform typical advanced skills including support of hardware, software, LAN/WAN internetworking, operating systems, security and file administration, basic vb or WMI cripting, and all day to day operational support functions
Requires a strong customer focus and excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
Must be able to work both independently and within a team environment as necessary.
Able to travel up to 10% of the time
