Job description
Rally Software is actively seeking an innovative, technically deep, and intellectually curious engineering leader who will be responsible for leading multiple agile teams in the delivery of initiatives and features for our flagship ALM products.
Your technical vision, pragmatism and credibility will enable you to guide the efforts of teams who are creating revolutionary new user experiences that push the limits of current browser based technology. You will work with peers and other leaders across our multiple sites to deliver on this goal and can balance the need for collaboration with the ability to make the right decisions to support your teams.

Key Responsibilities - What you’ll be doing:

-Lead multiple teams of talented software engineers.
-Lead by example - Champion predictable, high quality delivery and continuous throughput improvement based on data from Rally’s feature products.
-Mentor team members across a range of experience levels.
-Work closely with product management to ensure effective feature delivery, roadmap development, realistic estimates, and timely updates on progress, while providing technical insight and judgment of prioritization tradeoffs.
-Champion technical and architectural initiatives which extend SaaS scalability and performance, accelerate feature delivery, and fuel employee enthusiasm and passion.
-Implement and encourage successful asynchronous collaboration across R&D.
-Be a change agent for new and innovative software engineering practices.
-Balance stability of tried-and-true technologies with evolution of the codebase to use newer ways of working.

What you bring to the table:

-10+ years experience in the software industry including 5+ years leading technical teams.
-Proven track-record of delivering high quality commercial software products.
-Broad expertise in languages, frameworks, service oriented architecture, and continuous integration
-Proven ability to successfully grow, lead, and mentor geographically-dispersed engineering teams.
-Experience with Agile software development methodologies and test-driven development.
-Skilled at building consensus among groups and ability to influence others outside your direct reports.
-Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and timeliness in decision making.
-Capability of adjusting leadership skills to meet the diverse needs of individuals and teams.
