Job description
Essilor of America, Inc. (Essilor), is the leading manufacturer and wholesaler of prescription lenses in the United States.
We currently have a Director, Transportation career opportunity at our Dallas, TX location.
Position Summary:
The Transportation Director will report to the Sr. Vice President, Corporate Initiatives, and will function as the thought leader for transportation for Essilor of America. This position will be the primary point of contact with transportation companies and will be responsible for building productive relationships with the providers. This position will be responsible for influencing positive change in transportation related methods and processes in a multi channel, matrixed business. This position will participate in longer term operations strategy development and short term execution activities.
Specific Duties:
Provide leadership to cross functional teams focused on improving transportation costs while maintain or improving customer delivery requirements.
Lead negotiations with national distribution carriers and local couriers for small parcel freight with specific focus on reducing annual transportation spend and improving service to the customer.
Evaluate existing shipping policies and procedures, and implement industry best practices to optimize customer service and costs while making our transportation methods a distinct competitive advantage.
Lead integration of transportation operations for newly acquired businesses to streamline efficiency and maximize cost savings.
Develop transportation metrics including budgets, KPI’s, dashboards, variance reporting and management reporting for all EOA channels and business units.
Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business management or related field, Master degree preferred.
8 to 10 years supply chain and distribution leadership experience with a proven track record of delivering strong business results.
5 years experience working with and negotiating national agreements with major freight carriers with ability to reduce shipping and distribution expense year over year.
5 years operations management experience leading transportation teams.
Strong ability to communicate effectively and professionally in verbal and written form to internal/external customers and all management levels, team members and co-workers.
Strong influence skills with ability to deliver results across all business units.
Proven track record in the effective and successful planning and execution of projects.
Green Belt or Black Belt trained with proven experience implementing and executing lean/six sigma initiatives.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with advanced skills in MS Office and other tools.
Strong people management skills, with experience developing people within the organization.
