This is a key leadership role that owns the roadmap, engineering and platform execution for a critical part of our business.

The team is on a mission to revamp how we do Shipping at eBay. Given the vast amount of data at our disposal and the massive number of transactions going through the site daily we are perfectly positioned to optimize for a good buying and selling experience. Here is just a quick glimpse at some of the programs we have in store:
• Use data mining and machine learning techniques to provide up-to-the-minute delivery estimates for buyers and sellers and simplify shipping options for sellers.
• Add more end-to-end order fulfillment and shipment solutions for buyers and sellers globally
• Focus on reducing cross-border trading obstacles throughout the world, global shipping, building platforms to standardize tracking, labels, payment and reconciliations.

Job responsibilities include :
Lead design and implementation of projects throughout all phases of the software development life cycle
Work with close partners across several domains like search, shopping cart, checkout, billing and payments, returns
Collaborate and influence peers and management across Product Management, Engineering, Applied Science, Analytics, QE, Ops, External Partners and various other groups at eBay to drive the technology and platform strategy, business goals and roadmap execution
Track business impact of features on a regular basis, and rely on data to make informed decisions about future directions
Attract, develop and manage great talent (mix of Individual Contributors & Managers) - coach on career development, provide an open & honest culture/feedback, and inspire them by providing the right level of support and challenges
Be a thought leader through initiating bold changes, idea generation, clear understanding of ROI of various initiatives/projects
Be extremely good both in strategic & tactical aspects. Sets clear direction & delegation to ensure strong execution of the plans

10+ years of industry experience
Great design and problem solving skills, passion for quality and engineering excellence at scale
Experience in distributed systems, database technologies, online services is preferred
Technical Managers who are passionate about technology, possess "super" tech instinct and "know how"; Architects that do intense code reviews
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work in a fast paced, iterative development environment
Strong team building skills
Bachelor's or Masters in computer science or related field
