Director, Wireless engineering

Job Description:

· Director of Wireless engineering group will take ownership of the group charter centered around delivering the phy and MAC layers for 3G and 4G products as well as the SON subsystem
· Have full responsibility and accountability for Wireless group staffing, training and achieving end results
· Responsible for defining the Wireless portion of the end to end network architecture and the relevant interfaces
· Evaluate the ecosystem for potential partners and make recommendations for selecting key vendors to deliver SoC and PHY solutions
· Detailed technical mentoring of Wireless engineers, including introduction of new technologies and the training related to best practices in developing state of the art products
· Work with cross functional team to define project requirements and planning necessary to deliver quality products on time
· Provide technical content (including white papers) used to create marketing/sales collateral
· Participate and be a major contributor to company IPR activities

Desired Skills and Experience
Requirements:

· Master’s degree in EE or CS. PhD preferred.
· 10+ years engineering management and other relevant experience with companies who develop wireless systems and products. Minimum 5 years of senior management experience
· Carrier class systems development for licensed spectrum application. Hands on experience with design and commercial release of small cell products is required
· Domain expertise should encompass PHY, MAC, and SON. Understanding end-to-end 3GPP requirements for delivering the best-of-class 3G/4G transport systems
· Excellent written, oral, interpersonal communication and presentation skills. Must be able to manage at all levels while requiring minimum supervision
· Must be a team player capable of leveraging leadership and expertise to build consensus and achieve ambitious goals in a fast paced environment
· Proven ability to work effectively in a start-up environment
