Director - Stores - Shinola - Detroit


Job description
We have an exciting career opportunity to join our organization. The Director of Stores position is critical to the success of the Shinola brand. This Detroit based position will play a key role in driving our retail operation expansion plans through opening new stores. This position is also responsible for the productivity of existing retail stores and oversees many aspects of their day-to-day operations. The Director of Stores position leads and coaches the individual store managers. This position requires a considerable amount of dedication, flexibility, and adaptability as well as a great sense of responsibility when offering superior customer service and a distinct customer experience in all of our stores.
Duties and responsibilities:

Responsible for translating the company retail strategy into individual store action plans, communicating and cascading a clear vision of success at all levels.
Maximizes store teams performance through consistent and effective coaching and feedback.
Monitor the consistent application of the Stores’ SOP’s as well as all other merchandising, accounting, and human resource practices.
Identifies, develops and leverages existing talent to support the growth of the stores through the development of a talent development plan.
Drives future growth of the brand through effective succession planning, recruitment, selection and on-boarding of key store positions (Store Managers, Assistant Store Managers, Key Holders, etc.)
Ensures stores achieve optimal staffing levels and provide a quality on-boarding experience for all associates.
Drives the Company’s performance management processes throughout the stores.
Manages and regularly reviews the store incentive plans.
Resolves escalated employee relations, performance and customer service issues in partnership with retail sales executives and human resource representatives.
Cultivates a collaborative learning environment within the stores.
Supports stores involvement with the community.
Achieves stores financial, revenue and expense targets.
Provides direction to stores to ensure financial, revenue and expense goals are met.
Ensures store financial systems are planned, monitored, and delivered within budgetary guidelines.
Identify trends and translate data into action plans to reduce store shrink.
Effectively utilizes reports to analyze business trends for stores.
Partner with operations teams to open new stores.
Understands the competitive retail landscape within the different regions and communicates opportunities to the management team.
Coaches store managers on how to create a delightful customer experience within the store environment.
Responds and reacts to all communication in a timely manner
Performs various administrative duties as required.
Overnight travel required, including weekend work and travel.

Desired Skills and Experience
A minimum of five years of multi-unit retail management experience acting as a Director of Stores or equivalent in the consumer goods, apparel, or watch industry required.
Proven track record in achieving store sales goals and in leading a sales team.
Bachelor degree required, preferably in business administration or equivalent.
Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, which may require evening and weekend shifts.
