The Director, Medical Affairs Healthcare Strategies (MAHS) will be responsible for the coordination of CNS Medical Affairs (CNS MA) input into activities related to healthcare quality measures, advocacy and policy (QMAP). She/He will establish partnerships with internal stakeholders involved in QMAP to collaboratively generate or exchange key insights and envision meaningful solutions associated with these topics. She/He will be a key resource for the integration of relevant insights into CNS MA strategies and programs. The Director, MAHS, in conjunction with other internal partners (e.g. SCG), will be involved in the strategic planning of compliant proactive scientific engagement activities, educational programs, and research-related activities that are designed to generate and disseminate evidence that support and advance the value propositions of Janssen CNS and its brands.

Coordinate CNS MA input into activities related to quality measures, advocacy and policy (QMAP). Collaboratively generate or exchange key insights and envision meaningful solutions associated with these topics.

Collaborate with internal partners in the ideation and design of CNS MA research-related activities aimed to generate and disseminate evidence that support and advance the value propositions of Janssen CNS and its brands. Establish partnerships with external stakeholders involved in QMAP as needed to achieve CNS MA strategic and research-related objectives.

Collaborate with in-house and field-based colleagues and partners (e.g., CNS MA, SCG, HECOR) to plan and implement compliant and strategically aligned proactive scientific engagement, data dissemination, and educational activities.

Perform other assigned duties to meet the needs of CNS MA, and the Janssen CNS organization as necessary.

The position requires a high level of decision-making complexity, balancing the opportunities and risks of new areas of health policy and research, anticipation of clinical and healthcare marketplace needs, and alignment of franchise priorities with those of the external healthcare environment. Prioritization decisions must balance needs of multiple internal and external stakeholders, and be flexible in their execution. Decisions need to be made within a complex regulatory and compliance framework.

The individual in this position must be innovative and creative in identifying new educational and research opportunities that address unmet needs and evidence gaps of interest to various stakeholders. The incumbent must be able to effectively communicate and defend recommendations that are believed to be important for business plans, research strategy, and other projects related to current and emerging healthcare value- or quality-based initiatives, and healthcare policy trends in the US.
Qualifications

Minimum of a Master’s degree (MS/MPH/MHP/MHA) required; Doctorate (e.g., MD/DO/PhDPharmD) preferred.

6-8+ years post-graduate with experience in public health, health policy, health economics, healthcare administration, or related fields required.

Experience in epidemiologic research, including working knowledge and analysis of large databases and is highly desirable.

Experience in the pharmaceutical, biomedical, or medical device industry is desirable. Experience in other related environments also considered: public policy, healthcare systems, payer environments, etc.

CNS therapeutic area experience desirable.

Familiarity with regulatory and healthcare compliance guidelines/policies desired.

Demonstration of competencies for creativity, problem-solving, and innovative solutions.

Demonstration of effective networking and partnering skills.

Travel by air, primarily domestic (may have occasional international opportunities), up to 35% of the time, including overnight and weekends required.

It is critical that this individual have the ability to collaborate, understand diverse viewpoints and stakeholder needs, develop mutually agreeable solutions and see them through to conclusion in a matrixes environment.

This position requires a strong work ethic and ability to effectively balance work and family issues, as well as develop and maintain focus in a changing environment.

Fluent in English language; strong written and oral communication, and public speaking skills required.

Ability to balance multiple and complex tasks, and effectively perform in a matrixes environment.
