Senior Program Manager - Commerical - GE Aviation - Dayton
Job description
This is a unique opportunity for the potential candidate to lead the biggest NPI power generation project in this business, a $100MM+ development program which will be executed in state of art facility EPISCENTER in Dayton, OH. The Engineering / Technology Program Leader will be responsible for planning, executing, monitoring, and controlling this high complexity program. Essential Responsibilities In this role, you will be accountable to ensure execution of program while complying with customer schedule, budget, and performance requirements. You will give daily direction to a cross functional team that includes subsystems in machine design, electronics and controls, and DO-178 level A software.
In addition, you will:
Provide leadership and technical direction to a large team for a specific program / project with significant business impact
Lead multi-functional project team of GE, GE suppliers, GE partners to achieve program goals
Lead the planning & execution of assigned projects using sound Engineering and project management principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
Anticipate resource skill needs on assigned projects, and work with program managers and line managers to fill needs in a timely manner
Support engineering NPI checklists on assigned projects
Support bid and proposal estimates using work breakdown structure methodologies to estimate the labor and material
Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical requirements, scheduling, and contract commitments
Develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems; develop risk mitigation plans and implement risk minimization plans to reduce technical, schedule & cost risks
Provide technical leadership to other personnel and assigned teams; mentor others in the organization
Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with Engineering policies and procedures
Monitor and communicate project status, business issues, and significant developments
Lead or participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and/or tasks
Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
Lead customer meetings with program manager, which include preparation of presentation material for design reviews and technical information status reviews
Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
Minimum 10 years of experience leading multi-disciplined engineering team or project / program team
Ability and willingness to travel as required
Desired Characteristics
Prior project management experience in aviation industry
FAA certification experience with knowledge of FAR Part 25 or Part 33 requirements
Strong technical aptitude, including applicable Engineering tools and systems
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to guide and influence others
Strong process orientation in approach to work
Project management and team organization experience
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability to influence others and create cohesive groups
