Senior Manager - Content Operations - Appstore - Amazon - Seattle

Smartphones are becoming increasingly sophisticated and pervasive, and they are enabling customers to access content, applications, and services anywhere. The Amazon Appstore team leverages Amazon’s experience in retail, technology, digital content, and mobile services to build a world-class Appstore experience for tablets such as the Kindle Fire and Android-based smartphones.
The Amazon Appstore is looking for an experienced Digital Content Operations leader to lead definition and implementation of our strategy for processing, publishing, and maintaining digital content consumed by Amazon’s mobile customers. As the Snr. Manager, Mobile Content Operations, you will lead and define the policies, organizational structure, processes, and systems required to manage our mobile content operation on Amazon and non-Amazon devices. You will own working with mobile device hardware and software teams to launch Android apps on new devices, and help define hardware specifications that would maximize Android apps on our platform. You will recruit and manage the team required to implement the strategy and processes. Above all, you will ensure we protect Amazon’s high quality mobile customer experience and provide an efficient and transparent experience for our mobile content providers.
Role Responsibilities:
As the Snr. Manager, Mobile Content Operations, you will:
· Work with multiple Amazon and non-Amazon mobile device hardware and software teams to define Android app compatibility requirements
- Define the policies for processing, publishing, and maintaining digital content consumed by Amazon’s mobile customers
· Design the mobile content operations organizational structure and recruit the team responsible for implementing the strategy and onboarding new mobile content providers
· Create and optimize processes for adding new digital content quickly, while ensuring the content meets Amazon’s high quality bar and follows Amazon’s policies
· Manage the publishing cycle to ensure high quality app descriptions and optimum app upload times
· Build system to effectively screen and manage updates from developers
· Specify requirements for the technological systems and tools required to support the mobile content operations strategy
· Manage the mobile content operations team to meet our selection expansion, quality, and service level goals
· Partner with the mobile technology team to build required tools and systems
· Partner with other Amazon groups as necessary to implement the strategy and manage exception processes
Above all, protect and enhance Amazon’s mobile customer experience
3+ years of experience as a people manager
8 + years product management experience in a technology industry
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred
· Strong process definition and optimization skills; proven ability to define effective, efficient, and massively scalable processes for digital products and services
· Strong organizational design and recruiting skills; proven ability to build large, high-performance teams quickly
· Good people management skills; comfort leading and developing teams with 10 or more employees
· Excellent customer experience intuition; demonstrated success in delivering a world-class customer experience (ideally in the digital content industry)
· Strong analytical and quantitative skills; strong bias towards data-based decision making and comfort with pro-forma financial and operational analysis
· Excellent communication and persuasion skills; demonstrated success building buy-in for an innovative and bold vision
· Technical fluency; comfort understanding and discussing architectural concepts, schedule tradeoffs and new opportunities with technical team members
· Nimbleness and comfort with ambiguity; comfort responding quickly to rapidly evolving threats and opportunities
· Strong bias for action; ability to juggle multiple priorities and create a sense of urgency in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
· Street smarts; willingness to roll up the sleeves and do whatever is necessary to meet team goals
· Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams through influence versus direct management; excellent interpersonal skills
· Digital content management experience
· Business process operations experience
