Human Resources Director - Satellites Unlimited - Birmingham


Job description
Responsible for building and leading the company’s Human Resources department and overseeing the following areas of responsibility:

Employee relations and communication, compensation, benefits, performance appraisal, compliance, legal/regulatory issues. Given our size, flat organizational structure, and top management support, this role represents an opportunity to make an impact, influence senior leaders, and have true business success. The ideal candidate will have a successful track record in developing and leading the HR function with at least 7 years experience as an HR Generalist working in a multi-state, multi-company environment (such as a holding company or private equity firm) and be attracted to the notion of making a bigger impact in a smaller, growing organization. Typically requires regional travel 10% to 20% of time.

Expectations:
Act as a partner with the executive team to provide leadership, expertise, and guidance on HR issues.
Provide hands-on execution of all day-to-day HR responsibilities.
Enhance the value of HR as a strategic business partner.
Work closely with Director, Organizational Effectiveness on various Talent Management initiatives.
Design HR interventions that improve performance, retention and legal defensibility.
Ensure change is successfully executed.
Desired Skills and Experience
Education and Preferred Experiences:
Developing and managing the HR function
Developing HR and organizational policy and procedures
Managing HR in a multi-state environment
Managing HR in a multi-company environment (e.g., Private equity, holding company, etc.)
Business leadership
EEOC/OFCCP audits or cases
Corporate communications
Audits/benchmarking
Mergers and Acquisitions
Recruiting, staffing, On-boarding, training, leadership development, succession planning
Organizational development
Health and safety
Scorecards/metrics
Business insurance
Vendor management
Master’s degree in Human Resources or related discipline (preferred)
PHR/SPHR Certification (preferred)
Ideal Candidate:
Strong work ethic and bias for action
Strong technical knowledge in Human Resource Management
Experience consulting to operational and senior leaders around sensitive personnel issues
Demonstrating ROI/business impact of all HR programs
Workshop facilitation skills
Data management and conducting sophisticated statistical analysis
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Strong relationship building, coaching and influence skills
Strong attention to detail, and internal customer focus
