Educational Consultant - Math Techbook - Discovery Communications - Washington

We are seeking candidates for the position of Educational Consultant, Math Techbook to be located in our Silver Spring, Maryland Headquarters.
Position Summary:
The Director of Mathematics Techbook for the Educational Consultants team is responsible for supporting the educational partnership teams in driving the awareness and adoption of Discovery Education’s newly released mathematics digital textbook series.
The Director is also responsible to support the design and implementation of a professional development plan to build internal capacity related to Discovery Education’s Math Techbook services and expertise.
Responsibilities:
Product Knowledge
Responsible for knowing all functional and educational aspects of all DE products and services.
Serve as an educational expert specific to Math Techbook to make instructional, assessment, and pedagogical connections between all products and best educational practice.
Exercise a leadership role in the development of written documents and product tools that serve to increase the effectiveness of the product and corresponding professional development.
Maintain collaborative and regular working relationship with all other DE teams.
Grow Revenue & Techbook Business
Directly contribute to the revenue growth of Discovery Education by attaining or exceeding annual Techbook revenue goals.
Participate in partnership meetings that involve Techbook opportunities.
Write compelling proposals for the partnership teams.
Write strong proposals in response to RFP’s, RFQ’s, RFI’s or grants.
Develop tools for the partnership teams to integrate Math Techbook in the educational consultative process (i.e. templates, standardized proposals, etc.).
Explore additional lines of revenue related to Techbook including renewal customers, sponsorships, business partners, etc.
Investigate new Techbook business opportunities and execute strategies that provide the largest return on investment.
Pipeline Management
Successfully track Techbook opportunities from pipeline through invoicing.
Circulate weekly Techbook “status” reports to the Vice President of Learning Communities and Instructional Implementation and/or the Vice President of Internal Professional Development.
Ensure Consistent Messaging of Math Techbook across the Division
Deliver effectively an elevator pitch and consultative presentation to the Discovery Educator Network, new partners, and renewal teams
Participate in weekly team calls with Educational Consultants.
Travel with members of the educational partnerships teams to ensure appropriate integration of Math Techbook.
Provide opportunities to grow the Math Techbook knowledge and skill set of Discovery Education partnership teams.
Collaborate on Techbook Marketing
Participate in the development of a comprehensive marketing plan to both drive Math Techbook revenue and to develop further Math Techbook within the Discovery Education brand.
Review and refine the Math Techbook collateral that relays the breadth and quality of Discovery Education Techbook.
Collaborate on Techbook Implementation
Ensure successful Techbook implementation by developing a system to convert proposals into successful implementations with other members of the Partnerships and Implementation teams.
Collaborate with internal partners to shepherd clients completely through the sales and implementation process to ensure a smooth transition.
Support PD Specialist Capacity
Participate in and support the planning and implementation of Math Techbook opportunities for independently contracted PD Specialists to ensure a deep level of product knowledge and standardized delivery on an ongoing basis.
Budget
Adhere to budget by managing travel and account management expenses.
Follow all company policies associated with financial management including use of the corporate One Card.
General
Maintain a thorough understanding of DE’s overall goals and strategic vision; sharing this knowledge with customers, when appropriate.
Maintain an understanding of industry trends and current events by reading professional publications, researching all available prospect/product resources and participating in professional organizations.
Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal, organizational and presentation skills.
Understand new technologies and industry trends and clearly articulate how they impact Discovery Education.
Read professional literature regularly to contribute as a thought-leader and educational expert to DE.
Communicate workload focus on a regular basis (daily, weekly, etc.).
Share proactively the information learned in the field to support other teams/regions in meeting their objectives.
Demonstrate a “problem solving and solutions-oriented” approach.
Maintain clear and complete account files.
Establish strong relationships with all clients.
Desired Skills and Experience
Requirements:
*Advanced degree required, Master’s Degree or an equivalent combination of skills, training and experience.
*Approximately 6-8 years experience, or equivalent, in roles of increasing responsibility with 3 years of experience in education preferred.
*Deep ties to the education community including the ability to navigate the political landscape of public school systems.
*Strong knowledge and experience with Mathematics instruction and research.
*Thorough working knowledge of education technology including digital media and emerging web technologies and their application in the educational environment.
*Impeccable interpersonal, presentation, organizational and verbal/written communication skills.
*Background or experience in sales preferred.
*Attention to detail and the ability to manage a diverse workload.
*Ability to work as a team in a fast-paced environment.
*Candidate must be willing to travel approximately 70-80% of the time with seasonal variations to our educational partner schools in order to conduct business.
*Candidate must have clear and current clearances in the following three areas: Criminal Records Check, Child Abuse History Clearance, and FBI Fingerprint check in order to conduct business in our partner schools.
*Must have the legal right to work in the United States.
