Social Media Marketing Specialist - AVG Technologies - San Francisco
Job description
As a member of AVG’s award winning social team, the social media specialist will implement the company’s social media strategy, develop brand awareness, manage community management, generate community growth and cultivate leads and sales. The social media specialist is a highly motivated individual with experience and a passion for community participation, engagement and generating strong results. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic team-player, who loves connecting with influencers and being an evangelist for the brand. The role is managed by and takes full direction by AVG’s Director of Social Media.
Responsibilities:
• Creatively and proactively build a community of advocates and influencers that will both act as beta testers for new launches and as brand advocates for the business
• Conduct community management across Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Google+
• Build monthly and quarterly campaigns to support social media and PR engagement
• Deliver social media campaigns for AVG products
• Develop and manage creative assets, messaging and target customer segment profiles
• Work with agency partners to deliver campaigns based on AVG’s marketing calendar
• Provide ongoing reports on trends and opportunities
• Extend the current social media program to channels such as Mobile
• Provide best practice guidance in the areas of content and service development, event programming, online facilitation, advocate outreach, etc.
• Serve as the initial point of contact for inbound social media requests
• Implement a proactive strategy for capturing customer online reviews. Monitor online ratings and respond accordingly
• Execute targeted social advertising campaigns across Facebook, Twitter, Google, Instagram and YouTube social media platforms
• Identify and analyze issues, patterns and trends in customer requests & product performance
• Transfer information gained from social media to the appropriate AVG departments so that they can respond accordingly.

• Curate content that reflects and enhances the AVG community and encourages greater engagement with the brand.
• Proactively escalate issues, observations, opportunities and insights to the team.• Communicate issues, opportunities and insights to the company at large.
• Stay up-to-date on new social media tools, best practices and how other organizations and companies are using them, so that the company can continue to be an early adopter of these technologies.
• Analyze campaigns and translate both qualitative and quantitative data into recommendations and plans for revising the social media campaigns.
• Become an advocate for the company in social media spaces, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate.
• Demonstrates creativity and documented immersion in Social Media
• Successful jump from the creative side of marketing to analytical side, able to demonstrate why their ideas are analytically sound
• Displays in-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and their respective participants (Facebook, Twitter, Google, YouTube, Instagram, etc) and how each platform can be deployed in different scenarios
• Monitor effective benchmarks for measuring the impact of social media programs
• Analyze, review, and report on effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximize results
• Monitor trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design and strategy
• Maintains a working knowledge of principles of SEO including keyword research. Highly knowledgeable in the principles of “Search and Social”
• Demonstrates winning social customer service techniques. Possesses great ability to identify potential negative or crisis situation and apply conflict resolution principles to mitigate issues
• Perform data analysis to understand campaign effectiveness and user behaviors
• Build PowerPoint decks on campaign performance and effective reporting
Desired Skills and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Marketing preferred
• Demonstrable social media experience and success in a global technology or consumer internet company
• Consumer and/or Small Business experience in a global environment is essential.
• Minimum 2+ years of marketing experience and strong marketing disciplines
• Evidence of strong conceptual thinking and innovation – a track record of generating new ideas and concepts that challenge traditional thought
• Creative, diplomatic, cool under pressure and fantastic interpersonal skills
• Very strong Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel skills.
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of online community platforms and their respective participants (Forums, Blogs, Photo Uploads, Profiling etc.) and how they can be deployed in different scenarios
• Knowledge of the security industry, a plus
• Preferable knowledge of building communities within Consumer/Small/Medium Business sectors
• Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format, and build and maintain relationships
• This individual must carry stature and credibility to collaborate broadly, not just in the Marketing function.
• Team player, with the confidence to take the lead and guide other departments when necessary
• Good technical understanding and can pick up new tools quickly
• Have a good knowledge of principles of customer service
• Highly customer-focused
• The candidate must be comfortable working in a fast paced environment
