Director - Resident Services - Eden Housing - Hayward
Job description
This position holds principal responsibility for:
Direction, administration and coordination of the resident services department of Eden Housing, Inc.
Ensuring that resident services programs are sustainable, measurable and replicable across the portfolio
Leadership in identifying collaborative partners for provision of programming at new and/or existing sites
Supervision of program staff and program volunteers
Management of Eden’s reasonable accommodation requests and provision of required staff training on fair housing
As a member of EHI’s senior management team, the Director of Resident Services assists the Director of Property Operations in formulating and administering the organization’s policies, goals and objectives.
The following ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES are performed personally or through subordinate resident services’ staff and other employees:
Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates Resident Service Department staff
Ensures quality of service provided to residents by providing programmatic supervision, evaluation and oversight
Works closely with Director of Property Operations and Property Supervisors to foster strong cross-departmental (EHMI/EHRSI) site teams
Collaborates with Director of Human Resources to ensure fairness and equity in Resident Services employees’ compensation and adherence to other personnel policies and procedures
Volunteer Management
Creates and implements a volunteer and/or intern program, ensuring the highest quality programs and compliance with Eden’s standards for staff selection (i.e. background check)
Works closely with local schools, universities and volunteer entities to establish strong working relationships and regular referral base to Eden’s programs/properties
Works directly with Property Supervisors and Property Operations site staff to ensure a positive working and learning environment for volunteers/interns
Department Oversight
Develops and implements corporate and departmental goals on an annual basis, in collaboration with department staff and Eden’s senior management team
Supervises completion of resident services scorecard and/or other tracking mechanisms to measure quality of resident services programming across Eden’s portfolio as well as individual staff productivity
Conducts regular assessment/evaluation of program success and impact on Eden residents and on Eden properties
Develops, monitors and implements corporate budget and property budgets
Prepares monthly report for Board of Directors
Develops cohesive team within department and cross-departmentally
Outside Service Providers
Identifies collaborative partners and strategic opportunities for provision of services programming at new and existing sites
Writes and provides oversight of memorandums of understanding with outside service providers working in Eden’s properties, including childcare providers in our on-site daycare centers
Works together with on-site staff to establish new relationships with community based organizations in the interest of further developing services provided to residents at Eden properties
Participates in community coalitions as appropriate and encourages site staff to participate in these coalitions as needed
Other Departments
Takes a leadership role in assuring smooth integration of services on the properties
In collaboration with the Director of Property Operations, works on team building related activities across the portfolio
Works closely with Development Department staff to identify services’ needs, potential collaborative partners, budgeting needs, design issues etc.
Works in conjunction with the Director of Property Operations to develop and implement a comprehensive training program for all operations staff
Participates as a member of the company’s senior management team, and represents the department at monthly Board meetings
Program Planning and Fund Development
Works in conjunction with the Director of Fund Development in fundraising efforts including, foundation, corporate, governmental, individual and other appropriate sources of funds to provide money to implement new programs and maintain existing programs
Meets with potential donors, together with Director of Fund Development, to establish strong relationships and future funding sources
Keeps up-to-date with current funding trends and resident needs
Produces measurable outcome data, together with program site staff and collaborative partners, in order to effectively market our programs and raise funds to support new and existing services programs
Reasonable Accommodation
Tracks all Reasonable Accommodation requests in accordance with Eden’s policy
Coaches Property Operations site staff on proper procedures for processing reasonable accommodation requests
Ensures that all Eden staff receives required annual fair housing training
In conjunction with Director of Property Operations, Property Supervisors and all site staff, enforces fair housing policies and procedures across the portfolio
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
BA in Social Work or related field required. Master’s degree in a social work or related field highly preferred. Ten (10) years supervisory and/or program management experience in the social service arena. Experience in program development and evaluation.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to senior management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have reliable automobile transportation, a valid California Driver's License and vehicle insurance.
