Director - Global Supplier Management - Cepheid - San Francisco
Job description
The Director of global supply management will re-engineer Cepheid’s supplier program to increase flexibility and scalability to further enable Cepheid’s growth, while at the same time supporting the business model through material cost improvement. A key goal will be the creation and execution of an objective multi-factor supplier scorecard process. In this role, you will also be participating in “make or buy” proposals to the senior management team. The Director will also be responsible for re-aligning the existing purchasing organization towards business strategy. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Global Supply Chain, who also is accountable for demand planning, production planning and logistics world-wide.

Defines and implements world class sourcing strategies, supplier performance, and risk management policies.
Establishes a continuous cost reduction program through the complete supply chain, while increasing flexibility and scalability.
Transforms the existing procurement organization to fit your strategy.
Leads critical supplier contact negotiations.
Engages all parties associated with “make or buy” decisions.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, engineering, logistics or a related field or equivalent experience required.
A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in supply chain management, 2-5 years of managerial experience as a high performing manager.
Demonstrated success in supplier management (e. g. completed outsourcing project to a contract manufacturer, extensive “make or buy” experience, or demonstrated cost reduction project in supply chain) or experience as a supplier (e.g. contract manufacturer) to a mature industry, or to the health care industry or experience as a consultant improving supply chain performance is a must.
Previous ERP experience, QAD or SAP is preferred.
Experience in regulated industry, such as medical device industry is necessary.
Some experience in a Make or buy project role.
Outsourcing experience is a plus.
Should have Innovative supplier scorecard approaches is critical.
International experience is helpful.
