Regional VP - Business Development - Blackhawk Network - Pleasanton


Job description
Blackhawk is currently engaged in a major initiative to build a digital services platform on top of the Company’s already substantial retail marketing and distribution network business. This digital platform business will enable the integration and scale of new business opportunities in mobile commerce, eGift, loyalty, offers, and digital marketing services. The rapid rise of growth in connected devices, coupled with consumers’ desires for anytime/anywhere access to information, shopping services, and payments, have blurred the lines between traditional offline retailing and online (or “digital”) commerce. Blackhawk is investing in the platforms and tools to help its network partners integrate their current physical marketing and distribution network activities into market leading digital media platforms, social media networks and marketing engines.
All of the products and services offered by Blackhawk Network share a similar set of characteristics. They all take a highly innovative approach to filling unmet consumer needs in simple to use formats and products. Blackhawk Network provides convenient, flexible solutions that revolutionize gift giving, prepaid debit cards and prepaid telecom.

Responsibilities:
The RVP of Business Development will be responsible for creating strategies and plans to capture new business and develop new corporate partnerships. He/she will lead the identification, development and execution of strategic revenue-producing partnerships and acquisitions, particularly in the areas of digital platform technology and digital commerce.
This Vice President will leverage a thorough understanding of the current activities in these arenas to identify new revenue and business model opportunities. Reporting to the GVP Corporate Business Development, he/she will join a group that leads the business into new revenue streams and strategic alliances.
Specific responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to:
• Drive business development strategy and direction to identify and grow Blackhawk’s business initiatives, with a specific focus in the digital technology and digital commerce sectors. Help formulate and execute the three year plan for growth, partnership portfolio, investment, and overall innovation.
• Leverage senior executive relationships to uncover strategic opportunities and alliances that extend Blackhawk’s businesses into new areas. Roadmap development and growth around validation of all partnerships and investments.
• Drive and articulate Blackhawk’s positioning with key external strategic partners and within the digital commerce ecosystem.
• Aggressively pursue Blackhawk’s 3 year strategic roadmap with relevant players in key partner and product sectors
• Lead from strategy to execution on business development initiatives, via internal and external leadership
• Report to executive management on strategic business development milestones

Desired Skills and Experience
The Regional VP of Business Development will be high energy, smart and a compelling communicator to both external and internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate must possess an ability to conceptualize, negotiate and close new customer contracts as well as be comfortable representing emerging opportunities in a complex selling environment. This individual must partner well with large accounts and existing account team to move account to next level. Comfortable calling on and working with SVP’s or even CMO’s at top retailers. They must have a proven track record and be effective at pitching deals as well as conducting complex negotiations. H/She must be able to work across a matrix organization with strong negotiation and collaboration skills.

Experience: 10+ years of Business Development experience Superior communications and presentation skills Bachelors (MBA desired) Office Suite knowledge
