Facebook is seeking a highly motivated, team player to serve as Director and Associate General Counsel, Head of Privacy. This position will manage strategy for Facebook’s privacy legal team and lead a team of talented legal professionals. Lead and manage a legal team responsible for overseeing legal guidance and representation on privacy regulatory matters in the US and globally (excluding Europe)
Lead strategy for regulatory engagement and defense of regulatory inquiries with privacy regulators
Own responsibility for data policies across the Facebook family of companies
Manage compliance with FTC Consent Order and other regulatory requirements
Provide guidance on privacy regulatory requirements and developments in partnership with product legal teams
Oversee privacy diligence and counseling in connection with acquisitions and commercial transactions
Partner with policy, communications and business teams with respect to privacy regulatory strategy and developments
Minimum Qualifications
JD with membership in at least one state bar
People management experience (company, firm or government)
10+ years of legal experience
5+ years of privacy and technology law experience, including experience with global privacy frameworks
Experience advising on and influencing relevant privacy regulations and frameworks (e.g., COPPA, GLB, Privacy Shield)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with online technologies
Leadership experience defending privacy matters in agency (e.g. FTC) or Congressional investigations
Experience with operations and processes management (e.g. managing and implementing compliance programs)
