Position Description

Product Manager, Marketing Operations

Role Purpose

Responsible for defining & overseeing the product strategy and roadmap for core tracking, tagging, and partner capabilities for the Global Marketing Organization. Also responsible for engaging prospective partners in the business development cycle.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Sr Manager, Product Management. The Product Manager will define & oversee the product strategy and roadmap for core tracking, tagging, and partner capabilities for the Global Marketing Organization. Moreover, this role will interface with prospective partners in exploratory capability discussions & requirements gathering.

Ideally, you're a seasoned product manager with the skills to develop successful product solutions that drive revenue-generating, friction-reducing, platform-enhancing opportunities. This role will be accountable for a range of tactical and strategic projects and will liaise with business and technology partners throughout the global Expedia organization. You will take full ownership of solutions throughout the product lifecycle from opportunity assessment and initial planning phase to release, and product launch. You will also conduct and/or utilize market research, competitive analysis, work with clients and internal stakeholders to help define new opportunities.

You have sufficient technical skills to understand high-level architecture and strong communication skills to clearly describe strategy and drill into tactics. The primary objectives of the projects you will be asked to work on are to support the delivery of customer traffic to Brand Expedia properties in a deterministic, auditable, and track-able manner.

You also have strong interpersonal skills and are able to interact effectively with all disciplines and levels in the organization. You are a creative problem solver. You are not afraid to challenge the status quo and actively seek data to drive sound decision making. This is a highly visible and critical position that will play a significant role in the ability of the Global Marketing Organization for Brand Expedia to deliver its financial commitments.

General Responsibilities:

- For each assigned area, define the long-term strategy and product plan that will result in improved performance including ROI.

- Refine and build product over time in order to achieve and maintain product leadership. Define project specifications, serve as the business point of contact, work closely with technical partners to manage projects and products to specification.

- Work with internal and external customers to understand needs of all constituencies utilizing the product and platforms; document and manage customer requirements and expectations. Primary customers include Sales and Account Management, Executive Management, Technical Management, Product Leadership, Business Development.

- Identify project stakeholders, elicit project requirements and write business specification documentation for consumption by Development Teams.

- Work with Development Team through product development cycle to ensure features developed meet the desired business objectives.

- Work with all involved in project to ensure requirements are understood and prioritized appropriately throughout the enterprise, e.g., Development Finance, Customer Support, Marketing, Partners, and Training for the successful deployment of projects to ensure these requirements are met.

- Monitor and track product feedback to help in the prioritization of development projects.

- Review project functional specifications to identify missing, incomplete, or incorrect requirements and work with appropriate partners to resolve.

- Validate projects after deployment to ensure they meet all operational and business requirements.

- Accountable for reporting and analysis of assigned product(s).

- May be accountable for P&L of assigned products

- Determines scope of trade-off decisions: makes resource/budget choices within projects.

- Work directly with business development teams and partner organizations to interpret the cost and technological investment required to execute projects. Take active role in client relations, bid development, and managing project expectations.

Requirements:

- BA/BS required, MBA/MS desirable

- 7+ years experience; 3+ experience in product development/product management ideally in an Agile environment

- Client-facing, consultative, and/or business development experience preferred

- Ability to translate highly ambiguous business issues into structured problems, and to develop well-founded solutions in a structured yet creative way

- Ability to build rapport with stakeholders, ability to lead by influence

- Ability to communicate effectively on all levels, including concise verbal and written executive communication

- Strong top down hypothesis driven approach to analyses, combined with ability to perform in-depth bottom up analyses if needed

- A passion for data, with very strong quantitative skills. Fully comfortable with financial and operational metrics and analyses

- Ability to identify key needs or gaps and provide leadership to close those gaps

- Exhibits high degree of pro-activeness in analyzing data to influence change

- Strong attention to detail

- Goal oriented with self-direction and drive
