Director - Information Technology - IT Testing COE - Prudential - Newark


Job description
The Director of Information Technology for the IT Testing Center of Excellence (IT TCoE) is accountable for organizational enablement functions such as Knowledge, Skills and Training Management and Tools and Methodology Management. In addition to enabling and maintaining the process for testing resource proficiency, this incumbent will lead standardization of software testing tools and processes in support of the U.S. Businesses and Corporate Centers.
This role must also be able to support the overall team mission and objectives which include managing vendor relationships and testing resources for all U.S. businesses and corporate groups. The individual must be adept at achieving individual objectives and working in a team environment which promotes joint accountability for team goals. This position reports directly to the Vice President, IT Testing Center of Excellence.

Primary Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain standard and flexible organization-wide testing processes and tools to enable talent mobility and resource optimization. Ensure compliance to key controls in software testing.
Establish standard testing metrics to enable the evaluation of software testing efficiency and effectiveness and organizational metrics to drive transparency and continuous improvement.
Coordinate, communicate and support test environment related activities for TCoE shared services.
Optimize test environment management by driving solutions for test environment challenges.
Implement and maintain a cross-organizational Knowledge Management process for software testing which enables resource mobility through knowledge sharing and retention across business units and corporate groups.
Ensure testing resources possess the necessary skills to perform required testing and quality services by establishing and maintaining a process for managing skill requirements for testing roles, resource skills and solutions for resolving skill gaps.
Define and maintain recommended training for testing resources aligned to business units and corporate groups to support consistency in testing skills and objectives.
Establish training tools and processes for on-boarding and on-going training of supplier resources.
Manage repository of training materials for all current and potential testing training needs.

Desired Skills and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Technology related discipline or equivalent work experience
Strong communication, presentation, problem solving and relationship management skills
5 years of IT Testing experience required
Possess an understanding of testing and quality services, strategies, methodologies and best practices
Excellent understanding of various software development life cycle methodologies and knowledge of developments in the Technology industry
Proven ability to deliver across internal technology organization as well as across a larger organization including external service providers
Experience managing relationships with internal, external customers and vendors and outsourced service providers
Six Sigma training or experience preferred
Understanding of Knowledge Management
Strong customer focus
Experience working with a captive consulting company preferred
Excellent understanding of the insurance and / or finance industry
Knowledge of industry TCoE mobilization and transformation a plus
Excellent project management skills
Excellent conflict management skills
Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment; change management skills
Ability to support the creation of an environment that motivates individuals to work collaboratively as a team
Strong communication and leadership skills
