Senior Director - Merchandising - Giant Eagle - Pittsburgh


Job description
Position Summary:
Responsible for leading and managing the overall LOB to achieve company budget and targets.

Job Responsibilities:
Provide strategic leadership through the effective utlization of resources and attain business objectives for merchandising area
Develop and ensure execution of AOP, business plans, LOB plans. Develop LOB budgets and re-forecasts. Assist the category manager in the development as category plans as needed
Deliver overall LOB financial goals (i.e. sales, margin and income; increase household share within LOB) 500M-1B in sales, 100-200M in margin and 5-10M in income
Establish and maintain a professional, trained and motivated staff through effective implementation of performance and career development programs (i.e. DAPS and PIPS) Implement and support all leadership development tools to ensure continuous development of team members and their ability to meet changing customer requirements and the Company's business objectives in carrying out Company strategy. Directly responsible for succession planning, talent upgrades, mentoring and career pathing
Ensure category reviews are done in holistic and timely fashion across category teams to ensure delivery of business plans which includes developing key category review schedules, POG space productivity, assortment optimization, and gross margin ROI
Deliver overall LOB service level and turn goals Responsible for up to 20M inventory. Lead and develop improved supply chain processes that follow just in time principles and result in reductions in the total inventory investement at retail and wholesale
Develop weekly and monthly financial forecasts for LOB sales and profits in line with Giant Eagle's goals and objectives
Manage supplier relationships to support total LOB sales and profit goals. Manage the overall business relationship to ensure growth and business continnuity, manage vendor accural rates and trade funding, and ensure the necessary business connections are in place at senior level of key suppliers
Develop and lead with operations leadership (SVP and RDOs), and other leadership teams across the organization to ensure goals and objectives are achieved
Develop and execute Own Brands strategies across key categories to drive sales and margin. Establish penetration rates and key profitability targets for Own Brands in direct relationship with the category business plans
Direct and guide product selection, pricing strategy, promotional plans and advertising plans to maximize sales and profit potential
Serve as key strategic leader on internal cross functional teams and special projects
Corporate wide budgeting and financial responsibility. Amount of Budgetary Responsibility: $5mm +
Responsible for direct and indirect supervision of team members in one or more departments.
