Director - Online Risk and Fraud - Ria Financial - Denver


Job Description

Ria Digital is a new organization within Ria Financial that is focused on developing new ways to move money including linking the digital world to the physical / “brick & mortar” world, and to provide choice and convenience to our customers. Ria Digital will lead the company into the fast-paced world of customer needs in the digital age, and we are looking for the talent to accept this challenge, inspire a shared vision, and drive the necessary execution to meet these goals.
This is a critical position in the newly formed organization and will be tasked with not only developing and executing the online risk fraud and digital payments strategy, but also to build and develop a strong, high performance team. This team will have responsibility across Fraud Strategy, KYC & Customer Verification, Fraud Operations, Payment Strategy, Bank Relationships, and Payment Operations. This position requires a person who can roll up their sleeves and make things happen, can lead a team to success, and has strong “Card not present” (CNP) risk experience in eCommerce and/or Online Financial Services environments (web, mobile) with a focus on enabling business and maximizing returns.
Key responsibilities and experience include

Fraud Strategy
Develop strong policies and strategic programs to understand the risk, mitigate loss and to support revenue growth in Ria’s digital channels and products (web, mobile)
Deep understanding of risk/fraud mitigation tools & techniques
Can architect and implement risk strategy, products, and services to detect and prevent on-line fraud
Experience with KYC and Customer verification strategy, products, and services
Experienced in various risk mitigation / management software and tools
Expert in device identification and device intelligence technologies and their application, including the basics of collecting device info, to applying it in authentication, risk, and general device recognition
Provide management, assessment, and design of risk processes, strategies, and controls
Experienced in web and mobile device authentication and anti-fraud techniques
Risk Modeling and Analytics
Risk/Decision model creation and on-going improvements
Expert in measurement and analytics, and related tools and technologies
Experienced in analyzing, assessing, and inventing prevention, identification, and other methodologies and technologies
Responsible for the analysis of emerging attacks, discovering the signals for detection, removing false positives, creating solid rules / prevention, analysis and countermeasures, incident response, anticipating / preparing for future attacks, monitoring and predicting the environment across a wide variety of threats.
Create fraud loss / prevention projections
Seasoned in various fraud methodologies
Experience in General Applied Risk Management - enabling business via analysis, threat response, and planning
Can think like a fraudster and identify risks, exploits, and points of attack, then find ways to block them
Digital / Electronic Payments
Subject matter expert for digital payments, including assessing payment options and payment technologies for revenue growth and risk mitigation
Global payment strategy and execution, experience with emerging payment types and local payment schemes worldwide
Deep understanding of ACH fraud risk, as well as other account based payment types
Expert in Digital Payment Gateways and Technologies
Fraud Operations
Management of loss prevention operations and manual review teams
Credit card and bank account fraud claims operations (functions include fraud claims processing, fraud call center operations, chargebacks, claim exceptions handling, and Card presentments)
            AML / Compliance
Build strong relationships internally with AML / Compliance teams to oversee compliance with Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards and payment card networks regulations, etc.
FI Relationships
Negotiate risk management contracts
Build/Manage banking and payment network relationships including educating them about Ria’s risk management capabilities
Customers
Has a strong understanding of customer needs, even at a deeper level than they understand them
Strong experience with technology, functionality, and customer processes at an very deep level
Able to balance risk mitigation strategies with providing an exceptional customer experience
Product Management
Expert in Best Practices for Website / Mobile design from a risk perspective
Online product expansion worldwide - including card and alternate payment channels, KYC strategy, fraud mitigation strategy, and external data sources for risk management
Deep understanding of the unique risks and value propositions the web and mobile channels / products bring
Skilled across the entire product continuum, from high-level strategy to highly detailed requirements
General
Talent for bringing clarity out of complex situations and challenges, and at the same time having the ability to capture critical details
Exceptional ability to develop “out of the box” concepts to solve problems
Experience in coaching, mentoring, and developing others in a complex, fast paced environments
Exceptional relationship management skills and the ability to engage at a senior executive level, and with key stakeholders in a constructive manner
Proven experience working at a management level in various roles within the online risk fraud and payments space is essential
Candidate must be experienced in the electronic / digital channels and has been a part of such teams addressing similar challenges
Persistent and results focused – must be able to deliver results in an environment which requires a high tolerance for ambiguity
Extensive multi-tasking and prioritization skills – needs to excel in fast paced environment with frequently changing priorities
Solid project management skills – on time results, managing cross functional teams, planning, budgeting and resource allocations skills
Strong analytical skills

Desired Skills & Experience

7+ years of management level experience in an eCommerce or Financial Services industry
Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with interpersonal and influencing skills (at all levels internally, externally and cross-functionally)
Self-directed and self-motivated with a demonstrated strength in planning, organizing and project management skills to meet deadline
Experience in mobile a strong plus
