Job Description

Job Overview: This position is responsible for strategic direction, architecture, and design of MasterCard Worldwide’s Internet capabilities to ensure alignment with MasterCard’s overall enterprise architecture and all business strategies for MasterCard’s web based properties. This position will partner with all levels of the organization across both technology and business, to understand business and industry direction and trends, then developing plans to ensure MasterCard’s Internet capabilities aligns with, and where possible ahead of, the required needs.
Position will utilize previous experience with world-class, top-tier online providers to ensure the evolution of MasterCard’s overall Internet platform continues to meet business demands from all technical aspects including integration with enterprise architecture, web/Java development evolution, security and compliance, and overall operational excellence with a focus on costs and resource efficiency.
Major Accountabilities:

• Lead a team of architects and engineers responsible for direction, design, and standards for MasterCard’s Internet platform including core technical platforms.
• Collaborate with business partners to ensure alignment of Internet platform with business strategies.
• Develop and communicate, at all levels of the organization, solutions relative to the overall Internet platform.
• Provide leadership for the definition, development, and delivery of large-scale, cross-department initiatives with broad scope and long-term business implications relative to MasterCard’s Internet infrastructure capabilities. The team will collaborate with business and technical partners to identify and scope the opportunities, quantify costs, outline potential value and ROI, identify risks, benefits and constraints.
• Develop business cases in alignment with the MasterCard objectives. Lead scenario planning process and creation, validation and review of estimates, costs and benefits. Actively look for opportunities for Innovation and creative problem solving. Make presentations to the Senior Management, Business Owners and other Stakeholders to assist them in decision making process.
• Lead team in providing recommendation to Senior Management on selection of technologies and strategic technical direction for the department. Ensure creation of roadmaps that align with the department strategy and long term business vision and objectives, staying abreast of related technological developments.
• Oversee all direction, staffing and resource planning for the department. Ensure proper objective setting, adequate resource availability, proper skill sets, training, etc., for department.
• Set objectives, coach, and mentor direct reports to ensure successful individual development, career growth, and succession planning.
• Ensure compliance to quality methodology and development of quality metrics by the team. Create guidelines, processes and standards to ensure high overall quality of product and incident free deployment.
• Instruct and guide the team to ensure that appropriate processes and documentation is in use by the team. Ensure compliance to the defined standards. Actively look for opportunities to modify and enhance standards per the needs of the department. Develop documentation templates, lead and enforce development of artifacts through out the solution development lifecycle.
• Ensure compliance of Audit Requirements by proactively educating development community on Compliance Requirements including PCI, GLBA, Safe Harbor, and others. Ensure integration of compliance requirements into SDLC.
• Oversee definition and adherence of development services standards (tools, standards, etc.) to ensure consistency and efficiency.

Education (preferred):

•Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent work experience.
Knowledge / Experience (preferred):

• 6-8 years direct experience managing in delivering online capabilities to meet business and product strategies. This should include a focused relationship with technical and business providers.
• 6-8 years experience understanding revenue generating online products and solutions, including alignment of technical capabilities, for companies with online products that have a direct bottom-line impact.
• 8 plus years experience delivering secure online solutions in Financial Services Sector preferred.
• Extensive understanding of and experience with Internet Engineering Concepts, Methodologies, and technologies. 8 plus years of experience with internet engineering methodologies is highly desirable.
• Proven track record in selection and implementation of methodologies with focus on Lean methodology, delivery of High Efficiency Solutions leading to productivity gains is required.
• Extensive experience in vendor relationship management, vendor selection, RFI/RFP process, and Statement of Work development and execution.
• Proven ability to embody MC Leadership Principles and Core Competencies.
• Proven capacity to lead and influence matrix based project team members and work as a member of a diverse and geographically distributed team.
• Experience in operations environment is highly desirable.
Skills / Abilities:

• Able to be politically savvy, high-energy, detail-oriented and proactive.
• Able to function under pressure in an independent environment with a high degree of initiative and self-motivation to drive results and strong ability in collection and formulation of data, development of Metrics and dashboard reporting.
• Demonstrate ability to organize, manage, plan and control several concurrent initiatives with conflicting needs and the ability to learn and take on challenging opportunities.
• Demonstrate leadership and relationship skills with ability to influence others without having direct authority with proven ability to sell solutions, persuade cross-functional group, garner support for solutions and bring group to a consensus along with strong communication skills both verbal and written. Background in leading agile development or migrating teams to a hybrid agile “water-scrum-fall” methodology.
