Job Description

Department Overview & Goals
The mission of the Global Online Planning and Analysis team is to drive shareholder value by providing insightful strategic planning, rigorous business analysis, and thoughtful decision support to accelerate the growth of EA’s online operations.  Specifically, key areas of focus include:
1)    Providing ongoing budgeting and planning support to EA’s new direct-to-consumer initiative Origin.
2)    Providing ongoing budgeting and planning support to EA’s advertising business, Global Media Sales.
3)    Establishing best practices for forecasting and analyzing revenue, expenses, and capital, as measured by timeliness, relevance, and accuracy.
4)    Providing value-added analysis to support key business decisions on regular or ad hoc basis.
Position Overview
Key Responsibilities:
The Director will be responsible for the ongoing financial planning and reporting for key components of EA’s direct-to-consumer and advertising operations.  The core responsibilities include:
  • Global Online – The Director will be the primary finance business partner for the Global Online organization, and their direct-to-consumer business called Origin.  The Director will manage the finance team responsible for the fiscal year budgets, monthly close and forecast, and variance analysis for this fast-growing part of EA. The Director will also lead the development of a long range strategic/financial plan for Origin.  Key initial objectives include driving toward standardization of reporting, and developing globally consistent KPIs (financial and non-financial) to track.
  • Global Media Sales Planning and Reporting – The Director (and his/her finance team) will also be responsible for the fiscal year budgets, monthly close and forecast, and variance analysis for EA’s advertising business, Global Media Sales.   The Director will also lead the development of a long range strategic/financial plan for Global Media Sales.
  • E-commerce Process and Policy Review – The Director will frequently be required to review and approve e-commerce promotions, advertising contracts, and other proposals to drive EA’s top line digital revenue.  This requires extensive knowledge of e-commerce and accounting practices.
  • Infrastructure and Process – Because Global Online, Origin, and Global Media Sales are emerging businesses within EA, the Director will be responsible for establishing best practice processes, data structures, KPI tracking, and reporting.  This requires close partnership with the rest of the finance teams at EA, including Corporate, Global Publishing, and Labels.   As part of this effort, the Director will participate in the Forecast Re-Engineering project sponsored by Corporate Finance.
  • Decision Support / Ad hoc Analysis – The Director will partner closely with the business operators of Global Online and Global Media Sales to provide ongoing planning and analysis of business performance. 

Desired Skills & Experience

Experience:
  • BS degree in Finance/Economics/Accounting preferred
  • MBA preferred
  • 8+ years experience in a divisional or corporate finance role (FP&A or accounting)
  • E-commerce experience preferred
  • Proven managerial experience – hiring, managing, and developing staff
Skills & Capabilities:
  • Superior business partnership experience – ability to communicate with executives
  • Excellent modeling, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy on work output
  • Highly motivated, energetic, self-starter and inquisitive quick learner
  • Ability to drive results and deliver on multiple tasks
  • Extensive knowledge of Essbase, PowerPoint, Excel, and Oracle. Microstrategy a plus
