The Business and Operations Strategy team thinks strategically and globally about entire industries and helps Google define operational initiatives that contribute to the company's growth. Our team of highly creative visionaries thrives in deconstructing and re-creating businesses to meet changing strategic and operational needs, enable innovation, establish more efficient practices and help the company continue to achieve its vast potential. Our work includes such projects as developing and implementing next-generation advertising products, defining strategies to optimize operations, and establishing initiatives in emerging markets. We measure our effectiveness by monitoring the concrete impact we have on revenue, cost and operational efficiency.
The role: Director, Business and Operations Strategy
As a Director in Business and Operations Strategy, you'll provide the leadership, decision-making frameworks, analytic guidance and business judgment to drive two to three parallel projects that are generally aligned with one functional area. Your responsibilities may include developing the strategy for and leading the implementation of a next-generation advertising product, defining the strategy for the development of engineering data centers and designing the business system processes that will improve the management of Google's increasing scale of operations. You'll also contribute thought leadership to project analyses, key presentations and white papers as well as drive best-practices sharing and continuous learning throughout the team. Successful performance in this job requires excellent problem-solving, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage high-performing teams and multiple projects at once.
Responsibilities:
• Structure and execute operational and strategic initiatives by developing work plans, gathering and synthesizing relevant data, leading analyses and developing final recommendations.
• Lead multiple cross-functional, global teams to get work done.
• Clearly communicate findings from initiatives to senior management and to the broader organization.
• Drive recommendations through to implementation.
• Provide ongoing mentorship and guidance to your staff.
Requirements:
• Graduate degree or equivalent experience from a Computer Science or Engineering program with strong academic record.
• Demonstrated strong performance at the top level of a leading management consulting firm or in a strategy-based role at a leading company.
• Strategic thinkers with experience presenting solutions to senior-level audiences (operational experience preferred).
• Distinctive problem solving and analytical skills, combined with impeccable business judgment and ability to communicate with highly technical management team.
• Hands-on experience managing high-performing teams and a demonstrated ability to lead complex operational and strategic initiatives.
• Excellent and creative written and oral communication skills; outstanding presentation skills.
• Experience in the software, Internet and/or media industries preferred.
