GrubHub is seeking a Director of Engineering to join and grow our Personalization team. This team is at the center of building our product and marketing personalization platform in order to deliver the most relevant data to our customers via the right channel at the right time. As a senior member of our team, you will lead a world-class engineering practice and play an active role in shaping the evolution of Grubhub’s personalization efforts.
You will develop, hire and enable engineering teams and engineering leaders and scale our practice.
You will lead technology, delivery, innovation, and business impact of an engineering team and the engineering platform.
You will provide context, support and guidance as our team works toward our objectives — you will inspire, not just direct.
You will work with your team to develop and steward a long-term technology roadmap.
You will partner closely with product on prioritization and scheduling of product and engineering features.
You Should Have
Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Programming or Engineering related field
10+ years experience in software development or engineering field
5+ years of focused programming (Java, Scala, C#, Ruby)
5+ years of leadership experience managing & mentoring a teams
3+ years of software architecture work
Experience managing external resources (off-shore teams, contractors, etc.)
A strong understanding of agile processes
A strong background in technical design / architecture
A strong background in building high volume distributed systems
Strong communication (written, verbal) skills
