ABB is seeking a Senior Director of Network Applications for its Sugar Land, Texas location. Our customers operate the largest electrical transmission and distribution networks that keep power and other essential services operating daily around the world. Typical duties/responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Lead a team of software developers to deliver predictable, high-quality releases according to the network applications component roadmap.
• Transform the network applications development teams to greater collaboration, effectiveness, and innovation.
• Drive close collaboration with the peer SCADA and platform teams.
• Influence a broad audience via effective verbal / written communication and presentation skills, including peers, product management, sales, customers, executive management and partners.
• Maintain knowledge of current innovative software practices and technologies, and industry trends.
• Set expectations to the four pillars of schedule, budget, quality, and scope, and deliver according to those expectations.
• Motivate the teams through candor, coaching, and celebration of successes.
• Embrace continuous improvement, and make the opportunities to “fail fast”.
• Work effectively in a large, international, matrixed organization.
• Maintain knowledge of current innovative software practices and technologies, and industry trends.
• Recruit and retain top talent in the software and power systems industries
Anforderungen:
Basic Qualification:
• Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 15 years experience in building mission-critical software products
• Candidates must already have a work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in the United States.
Preferred Qualification
Experience for the Power Systems Industry (Electrical Transmission & Distribution Utilities)
• Experience in building mission critical software products specifically for the Power Systems Industry (Electrical Transmission & Distribution Utilities)
o Energy Management Systems (EMS)
o Distributed Management Systems (DMS)
• Knowledge of SCADA systems
• Degree in Computer Science with Operational Research, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Physics.
• Experience in software development lifecycle for enterprise-class software, using Agile methodologies.
• Experience in leading teams located in geographically separate offices
