Studio Creative Director Amazon Irvine

Amazon, is looking for a Studio Creative Director who knows what it takes to make a great game and has experience doing so. The ideal candidate is comfortable working wonders within the limitations of their project, is used to being agile and hands-on, is focused on shipping a quality product (and has done so), and is a self-motivated team player.

You'll work with the team and dive deep to tie all the pieces together and execute on engaging game play mechanics within a positive, "what does the game need to be great" environment. You have experience designing and analyzing game mechanics, systems, economies, and love to dive deep into the details.
You can communicate a clear vision that drives team buy-in and organizational commitment. You have experience managing and mentoring designers. You are a strong partner with Art, Animation, Audio, and Engineering and you understand how all of the pieces come together to create a game.

You use data to inform decisions and creatively find ways to engage with customers as early as possible.

Passion for Survival Crafting and games at scale

Experience with state of the art technology (Unreal/Lumberyard/Unity or other proprietary engines)
Deep understanding of games as a service
Experience designing, implementing and balancing game economy
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Wisdom =>17
Track record of success
Experience owning the design for the full production cycle
Experience on at least one MMO
Experience with Multiplayer Live Ops

Dexterity =>14
Experience creating, tuning and balancing game play with a "get your hands dirty" approach
Create clear and concise game designs for new games and new features
Ability to context change between multiple design disciplines

Constitution =>17
Has led teams from concept to customer
Has built and/or managed an in-game economy

Charisma =>18
Provide leadership to the team
Provide career management and mentorship to design staff




Basic Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
5+ years generating and refining game mechanics
3+ years people management experience
2+ years operating in a multiplayer live product, MMO or equivalent
At least 2 AAA game titles shipped
Experienced with engines such as Unity, Unreal, CryEngine
Experience writing lore
System Design

Preferred Qualifications:
Self-starter who doesn't need, or want, to be micro-managed but wants constructive criticism
Experience balancing and pacing games
Expert with math and formulas in game environment
Strong creative writing skills
Game programming background a plus
Passionate gamer with in-depth knowledge of current commercial game titles
