The Business Development Director understands the entire value chain for Industrial IoT/Industrie 4.0 and Smart Manufacturing, as well as end user needs and trends, and is excited by the opportunities in this market. These include new offerings in hardware and software, security, services, business models, and channels.
Recognizing the unique attributes and strengths of the Samsung ARTIK IoT platform, the Director will identify target industrial segments, use cases/applications, and lead customers. The Director will architect well-differentiated, competitive IoT solutions for these segments, based on the ARTIK IoT platform as the main building block and the offerings of ARTIK ecosystem partners as appropriate. Working closely with lead customers, the ARTIK team, and ARTIK partners, the Director will also drive development and delivery of solutions from evaluations and pilots through to rollout and scale up.
The Director role is customer-facing and includes revenue target expectations. Focus will be on developing scalable, repeatable, high value new business in the industrial market.
Desired Skills and Experience:
Deep knowledge of the industrial IoT market, with focus on Smart Manufacturing preferred.
Ability to formulate creative strategic and tactical plans and justify them, and excellent communication skills to convince and motivate others to participate
Ability to architect differentiated end-to-end customer solutions leveraging the ARTIK module family and SmartThings cloud
Skills to leverage all Samsung internal resources, such as Product Management, Marketing, and Technical Support, to deliver these solutions
Experience leveraging and developing ecosystem partners, particularly for technology extensions, system integration, and go-to-market
Experience conceiving, negotiating, and closing contractual agreements with partners and customers (with legal support)
Effective at building support for projects throughout large organizations: C-level, engineering, IT, and other stakeholders (both internally and at customers)
Ability to identify, triage, develop, and close quickly on business development/sales opportunities
Ability to work with leading OEMs and system integrators around the world to ensure Samsung’s success in the industrial vertical
Requirements
Min. 10 years of business development or sales experience, primarily at industrial companies
Deep domain insight in industrial solutions (ideally smart manufacturing solutions) from an IoT perspective
Knowledge of industrial requirements, both technical and business, and emerging needs
Proven credibility in the industry, e.g. through trade event speaking, trade publications
Demonstrated ability to develop compelling solutions and sell them to lead customers
Track record of developing lead customers and building momentum
Technical education preferred, e.g. electrical engineering, computer science or related fields, and hands-on industrial application engineering experience a plus
