Sr Director Strategic Planning Execution VMware Palo Alto

Reporting to the VP, Strategic Corporate Alliances (SCA), this role will be instrumental in driving the strategy and execution for the SCA team (System Integrators/System Outsourcers, Strategic Technology Partners, Pivotal and the Technology Alliance Partners). This unique role will span across the SCA organization and will work in partnership with key members of the Regional Sales, BU’s and other functional teams. He/she will be expected to build executable business plans with strong governance and measures of success. Cross-group collaboration and the ability to influence without direct control over resources will be required to deliver extraordinary results. The ideal candidate possesses a unique blend of business acumen, sales operations experience, BU VMware Solutions knowledge, big-picture thinking, influencing skills and ability to collaborate with a large number of constituents within VMware.
This position must be located in Palo Alto, CA.

Responsibilities:

This is a newly created role and will be a key member of the SCA leadership team and be responsible for helping develop and deliver organizational priorities.
Leading the internal interlock process between the SCA team, GTM Teams and Sales Execution teams.
Leading the process for development of long-term strategy as well as fiscal year goals, set direction and drive resource alignment
Leading the budgeting process across SCA and working with finance teams to align resources by strategic initiative.
Identify topics for discussion, review and set the agenda for various meetings. e.g. SCA Leadership meeting, Regional meetings, QBR’s.
Set up SCA Governance and meeting cadence for Executive Leadership Team
Capture action items from SCA meetings and share with staff and presenters.
Follow through on actions from staff meeting and other critical meetings
Prepare for critical internal/external meetings including customer, partner, Dell and E-Staff presentation development.
Qualifications & Experience

The candidate will have over 10 years of professional experience in the technology industry with over 5 years of experience getting results through partnerships with well-regarded hardware, software and/or services companies. Virtualization domain knowledge is a plus. Domain experience in cloud, infrastructure or business applications would be a distinct advantage. Leadership experience is not required.

12+ years of work experience in technology company or related space. Management Consulting experience is highly desirable.
Strong business skills and knowledge preferably in a software company. Must have clear understanding for example of typical software business model, GTM strategies and technology.
The successful candidate must have a track record of consistently delivering excellent results, even in the face of changing environment.
Works effectively across teams and cross groups to bring together diverse views in order to set and accomplish goal and initiatives.
Has Analytical skills where s(he) is able to identify patterns, process information quickly and make decisions in a timely manner. Ability to sort through data and patterns to identify key issues.
Experience working with executives to accomplish organizational priorities and guide VP’s and leadership teams through alternative decisions.
Quick learner and can adapt to changes in time-frames, people, and situations with ease. The ability to remain calm under pressure.
Strong attention to detail and solid leadership skills.
Exceptional listening, oral and written communication skills as well as presentation skills. The ability to multitask effectively.

Education
Bachelor’s Degree ; MBA helpful
