As a member of the Medtronic Cardiac and Vascular (CVG) Technology and the Cardiac Rhythm and Heart Failure Business (CRHF) senior leadership teams, the Global Leader of Technology for CRHF will provide leadership, direction, and planning in all aspects of IT Business Strategy for the CRHF businesses. You will manage strategic information technology decisions and adjust strategy / priorities as needed. Work with internal and where necessary external customers to drive efficiencies and benefits using Information Technology. Help drive operational excellence through IT and represent Medtronic CRHF on CVG IT and corporate level IT imperatives and initiatives.
As a key member of the CVG Technology and CRHF Senior Leadership Teams, a major aspect of this role is to develop a world-class information technology across the CRHF businesses while driving global alignment with the CVG Group — from the approach to sales force effectiveness, analytics, factory automation, eCommerce, and customer services — with the goal of enabling the business to grow, drive speed and reduce cost so as to create a global competitive advantage and achieve sustained profitable growth.
A Day in the Life
The role provides technology leadership and direction, and execution oversight in four primary areas within the CVG IT organization:
Strategic partnership with the CRHF business president and his leadership team.
Shaping strategic IT priorities within CRHF while aligning to CVG IT strategy and priorities.
Providing leadership, management and development of employees while fostering a positive and engaging work environment.
Driving collaboration with Global IT Shared Services and the technology regions and ensuring execution and delivery that meet or exceed expectations of our business leaders.
This position will be in Minneapolis, MN.
SHAPE
Shape strategic and tactical technology demand and provide dedicated functional support to the CRHF Business Unit within CVG to enable them to execute their strategy and roadmap.
Shape large-scale enterprise technology programs, analytics, digital commerce and application, and collaborate with Shared Services IT to execute and deliver to the CRHF business and each sub-business.
Manage the development of global strategies, shared service standards and tactical plans to achieve business growth and sustained productivity goals.
ENGAGE
Establish, mature, and maintain strategic relationships at all levels of leadership within business and IT to shape, innovate and achieve strategic imperatives to both grow the business and achieve sustained productivity.
Proactively engage with business partners to identify and define opportunities where the application of information technology can advance the strategic goals and objectives of CVG.
Provide leadership, management, and development of department employees including performance management, individual development planning, succession planning, employee communications, and positive working environment to ensure high productivity, employee engagement and optimal performance.
Actively share best practices across the organization.
Jointly make talent decisions with the Business Units.
Foster a client service culture through active engagement, leadership, and the creation of a strong sense of accountability within the CVG IT organization.
Direct the planning and utilization of IT resources within CRHF CVG IT team.
ACHIEVE
Oversee operational effectiveness and utilize enterprise and digital technology to work across multiple technology domains from finance, merchandising, supply chain, and digital to achieve business outcomes.
Build business operations support models, including day to day issue triage and resolution.
Direct, organize and control approved annual operating plans, programs, and capital and expense budgets for CRHF businesses. Maintain appropriate communications within and between other businesses to support Medtronic’s overall business and IT growth strategies worldwide; facilitate opportunities for operational leverage.
Ensure all IT projects meet all necessary requirements, satisfy all other pertinent measures of quality, and are delivered within the budgetary and schedule constraints of the business unit.
Drive accountability, consistency, quality, functional excellence, standardization and discipline across IT function.
Drive execution, especially cross-functional IT project management.
INNOVATE
Partner with CVG IT Leader, representing CRHF capability needs, to shape the technology strategy for our CVG business units including: Analytics, Sales force Automation, eCommerce, and mobile platforms. Influence strategy for both internal and customer facing digital products and services.
Evaluate and deploy new technologies as appropriate.
Stay current on business market trends and IT trends, products, services and shape ideas to bring the two together.
Drive rigor and continuous improvement in IT at Medtronic.
Bachelor’s Degree and 15+ years of IT or Technology related leadership experience and 10+ years of experience having direct reports and experienced leadership and people management, including setting goals and managing/developing people.
Specialized Knowledge or Skills Required
• Strong executive-level leadership skills (including active listening skills, presentation skills) and proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative, inclusive organization, and environment

• 10+ years medical device experience
• 5+ years project management experience
• 3+ years experience with healthcare related technology services and solutions
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business (MBA)
• Experience in a large global corporate (matrixed) environment
• Recent experience with an organization undergoing significant organizational or change management
• Knowledge of medical device industry for cardiac related therapies
• Proven leadership in business optimization with strong results orientation
• Experience with digital/ecommerce, mobility, supply chain and operations IT functions
• Mergers, Acquisition, and Divestiture integration experience
• Data analytics, risk management, and financial competence
